THere is also a dessert truck in NYC that sells full-on desserts, not just cake/pastries.

Hi there, PinkZiab. Re your tag line. Not to be nit picky here either, but according to the Merriam-Webster Online dictionary, voila is indeed a word:

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/voila

Main Entry:
voi·là Listen to the pronunciation of voilà
Variant(s):
or voi·la Listen to the pronunciation of voila \\vwä-Ëlä\\
Function:
interjection
Etymology:
French, literally, see there
Date:
1739

âused to call attention, to express satisfaction or approval, or to suggest an appearance as if by magic.

Oh, and I wish that cupcake truck came by my house!

I think she meant waalaa is not a word. And that it is voila =)

haha, veejaytx, I think her tagline means that the word IS voila, but not: "walaa" like it's sometimes written. icon_smile.gif

As for cupcake trucks, who needs them, seriously do we think these people can bake better than we can? Bwaahaahaaaaa icon_wink.gif . Actually maybe they can but I just had a pretty lousy experience at my local boutique cupcake shop. $2.50 each and they were ALL dry and bland, each and every one of 'em. Grr.

Ahhh, VeejayTx...you corrected me once too when I was correcting someone else! Are you a closet grammer teacher? icon_smile.gificon_biggrin.gif
I too understood the "voila" statement as you did.

As to the REAL point of this thread...very neat!

Yep, I definitely did misinterpret the tag line, pardon me for butting in! Egads, somebody actually writing
"waalaa" instead of voila? Haven't seen it, but it would rub me wrong too. LOL

No, not a grammar teacher of any kind, just a spelling nut, I guess! Most of my pet peeves are word/spelling related, and sometimes I just have to open my big mouth (usually enough to insert big foot.)

Please pardon me.

I'm still hoping for the cupcake truck to come by, I sure could use one right now. Who would have ever thought such a thing would work?

My husband and I always wondered what the ice cream truck people did when it was cold and ice cream sales are down. We thought it would be cool to sell cakes, cookies, cc, sweets and coffee from a truck. Like a traveling bakery/starbucks. Unfortunatly real life got in the way and it's not possible to take a chance on anything right now. Maybe when the kids are grown up =)

CC members are atrocious spellers. Gah.

I have read walla instead of voilà.... I had to read it about 4 times before I realized what they were trying to say.

Another pet peeve is the (mis)use of the apostrophe on here.

LEARN WHERE IT GOES, FOLKS!

Oooh that's like the taco trucks here in SA, but with better food! icon_lol.gif

I wish people would learn the difference between "your," you're," "there," they're," and "their." It's sooo simple! icon_rolleyes.gif

I didn't know you could get the accent grave into a post. I always thought it would show up as one of those unrecognizable characters.

à. Huh. There ya go. Darned if I don't learn something new every day. é ç â!! LOL.

What REALLY bugs me about grammar is when it comes home in my DS's school newsletters - both by the principal and the teacher. Granted it's not often, but it happens more than it should.

OMG.......how did this harmless share of a great idea end up being a grammar slammer????

COME ON PEOPLE....can't we just get along without all the constant fault finding???

IT's about the cake....and nothing else.....

It is a great idea. I saw their website and saw the short news thingie. What a cute couple they are!

I was kinda bothered though.... when they were baking they hd no hair protection. I hope they skipped it for the cameras that day and use head-coverings the rest of the time!
