My sister is getting married next year and she asked me to make the cake. Long story short the cake is included in her package so I get to enjoy the wedding and relax. She does want a handmade gumpaste wedding cake topper that looks like her and her soon to be husband. I am not sure if my skills are up to the challenge. Does anyone have a direction to steer me in? Any books, magazines, posts, etc that would help me... Or if I totally stink in my attempts does anyone know of I can just buy one anywhere? Thanks CCers.

I have a suggestion - do them in clay instead. That way, they are more sturdy and will last for years... And clay is WAY easier to work with!

If you are looking for cute figures, the icing blog listed above is great.

If you want more realistic figures, you can use the techniques in either of these DVDs:

I have both of these (like the first one better). For realistic figures you will need a mold (you can find these at most clay sites).

There are many companies that will make figures that resemble the bride and groom (just google and you'll find these). They are expensive.

Good luck!!
