Cute Idea For Holiday Packaging Of Oreo Cookies!!!
Baking By Cookies4kids Updated 29 Aug 2010 , 10:22pm by thin4life
I saw this post earlier last week and decided to order from SpinningLeaf. I am very pleased with their product and with their shipping. The plastic is so sturdy, these molds will last a lifetime.
I made the Oreo's last night...very easy and every one loved them.
This may sound like a silly question but...the molds with designs in them like the footprint or dragonfly etc..do you have to brush that colored chocolate in first, let dry and then put in the dark chocolate?
I saw this some time ago and think they are fabulous. I just wonder how time consuming they are to do. Are they easy to release from the molds? How long does it take for it to set up?
suz
Ok.. Just melt your choc add some to the mold (plan or design ) add the oreo, add more melted choc to cove the oreo. Stick in the freezer to harden and pop put on parchment /wax paper ! Thats it super simple ! You will have to do a few to know how much choc you need to add before and after you add the oreo, and to see about how long it takes to harden.Im sure its a little different for each person ! I will say that after you add the 1st melted choc to tap the mld on the counter a few times to make sure your design ( if any ) is filled in and I also tap mine after its all added to get out any air bubbles.
1st: THANK YOU THANK YOU fiddlesticks! This website is so awesome. I love the molds, and they have so many diffrent desings.
2nd:Sweetcravings if you look at the website now they have an Oreo tutorial and it gives step by step instructions.
One more question..When looking at the tutorial it looks easy enought to use these molds but how on earth can you 'paint' the design on some of these molds..eg..snowflakes, small flowers or dots. It would seem very difficult to color such a small design with so much detail even with a small brush.
You can either paint the design and let it harden, then add the rest of the melted choc ,cookie etc ,or after its all done you can then add the detail ! And yes it can be a pain . But even if you add it before you can hold it up and look through the mold from the bottom and see if you like what you have before you finish it.
hi everyone!! i read through the post on here looking to see if anyone had any suggestions already on how to package them. can anyone give me some ideas? its for a baby shower and i am giving them as favors. Thnx so much!!!
I have seen people put them 2 to a little candy box with some shredded colored paper to match the event. And also in a small cookie bag ,again 2 cookies back to back so the design shows on both sides also with matching paper ribbon etc !
I think it depends on the event what you could come up with . Somthing ( container ) that goes with the theme of where they are ending up.
Maybe plain Oreos with persons name on it as a place marking just set on each plate to ?
thnx fiddlesticks!! i hadn't thought about a cookie bag and putting them back to back. thank you!!! love your work, its great!!
if they come out looking cute enough i will post them, lol!! not as talented as some on here. i am working on it tho!

hi everyone! i have a question? someone had asked how much to charge for them, but noone wrote a response. i am curious now cuz i seen them on dylans candy bar for 9 decorated pkgd for 24.00 and that just seems like an awful lot. have a great weekend!!!
I have only seen a price one time and someone said they sell them for 2/$3.00. I dont know what that included or anything though ,just plane or a drizzle or bagged or what ! I would also like an Idea!
thnx for that info tho fiddlestcks, your always so helpful!!! i hope someone who has sold them can tell us cuz i am curious. i mean if you think about it a bag of oreos is at most four dollars and of course the choco and pckging, but that just seems like an awful lot to still charge, 9/24.00. hehe or maybe i am just cheap, lol!!! i am making some soon for a baby shower, so i will post them and hopefully won't get to harsh of comments, hehehe, i love constructive criticism tho, for sure! i love fall!!!
Your Welcome Im sure you will do great! I always try to by the oreo,s when they are $2.00 a bag ! Like right now the halloween ones are that price so I buy some and freeze them If I know I will need them , or anytime the reg ones go on sale through the yr I try to buy a couple bags to freeze just in case .You should figure out your cost and go from there with a price that will make it seem worthwhile to you.

YES! I've ordered from them a couple of times. They are excellent! I've ordered 3 molds at a time an have recieved a free mold each time! Fast shipping!
There is another thread like this one. I charge $3.00 a piece. It does seem like alot but they are alot of work if you are painting them etc.
Lu
Thnx Lu! yeah i can see them being that much if you put that and the other decorations like what i have seen on them. in the area i live in tho they would rather give birth to a cow then pay that much, lol!! have a great day everyone!! so in canada are their different molds? then the websites we have talked about on here?
For pricing, it might help to know that they cost about .25 to.30 each to make (depending on the type of chocolate you use). I think it took a 2.5 lb. block of Ghirardelli's dipping chocolate to make 52 Oreos. I always use the DoubleStuff (it'll take less chocolate, but you'll get fewer Oreos per package).
GeminiRJ.. Is that price just for the cookie n choc ? Not a package price ?
Yes, strictly cookie and chocolate. And the price is if the cookies are NOT bought on sale.
