Yep, it does! The fluff is just like melted marshmallows. Just add your powdered sugar until it's firm enough to knead then turn out onto a greased surface and work it until it's like fondant (add Crisco/powdered sugar as needed)..

I have made it this way and just added flavoring to it too - It was much stickier that the regular MMF but I don't think that I added enough powder sugar. I will definately make it again. It was really easy, took 1/2 the time and only made 1/2 the mess.

I used it on the red for my snoopy cake.

Yep it's a lot less work than MMF, you just need to adjust the sugar/crisco to get the consistency you like, and that will vary with sugar brand, fluff brand etc. Add the flavouring at the beginning to make life easier!

how do you determine the amount to use? Is it an even exchange ?

1 16oz tub of Marshmallow fluff
6-8 cups of confectioners sugar
2 tsp of flavoring of your choice
paste colors (Optional)

Empty contents of marshmallow fluff in large bowl. add flavoring and stir with spoon. If you desire to color the fondat add your desired color at this stage. Then add confectioners sugar two cups at a time and mix with spoon until no longer sticky, then place on large pastry board or mat lightly rubbed with vegetable shortening and knead until smooth and pliable. Roll out to desired size for covering cake.

Note: The finished fondant is bright white in color due to the marshmallow fluff, which is whiter than marshmallows

To Store: wrap in plastic wrap then place in zip loc bag

Is under Easy Marshmallow Fondant in the recipe section.

HTH!!

Please give us feedback when you make this. I tried this once and I didn't care for the flavor when compared to MMF made with mini MM's.

I'm hoping I just grabbed a bad brand or something b/c I do remember it coming together a lot better than the melted mm way.

I think I'll try it tomorrow or over the weekend........I'll let you know.
bonjovibabe, what recipe do you use with crisco?
janelwaters, thanks for posting your recipe, I'll probably try yours.

added--- The one and only time I made mmf, it was really dry, so a little sticky would be great, and don't forget the corn starch.........on another forum they were discussing that.

I just add a tbsp of crisco into the MMf when kneading it, it keeps it more supple & elastic and stops it getting dry and cracked.

Another dumb question... icon_redface.gif ...Does this fondant work the same as regular fondant (I've only used Wilton and my whole family hates it, including me thumbsdown.gif )? I mean can you do decorations like flowers and such or is it just good to cover cakes with?

Thanks. icon_lol.gif

Yes, you can make decorations out of it. I add Tylose to my MMF when making figures and such, but I don't think it is totally necessary.

Thank you Trixinaz. I'm not really sure what Tylose is but considering I'm fairly still new at this, I guess that's expected. One last question I promise, does it dry like regular fondant? I've made roses that dried very hard, almost unbreakable. Is it the same effect?

Thanks again! icon_smile.gif

I have a one bowl, one plastic bowl scraper method.

Using my KA bowl, add marshmellows. Put bowl into oven (low temp.) covered with aluminum foil. After marshmellows are mostly melted I tranfer the bowl to the mixer and add powered sugar...flavorings....and color if needed. Use my bowl scraper to get all the fondant out of the bowl.

I have 4 dishes to wash...pretty easy.

Hey, need2sleep -

There's nothing "regular" about Wilton fondant. It's a good learning medium, but not good for serving.

I agree, the Wilton tastes worse than horrible. But it is the only one I am familiar with. That's why I am so tempted to try the MMF. I think I will try it this weekend just for fun.
