IMHO, I think she is using maybe a 21 or 32 star for the border and maybe a #3 for the lining. What does everyone else think. I want to try this now!

I just wanted to do something more "elegant" for a christening cake I have for this weekend. Especially since it's for a little girl. I'm kinda getting bored with the same old - same old.

I cant wait to see your cake and what border you end up with !
If you try it please post what tips your try !
The border on the simpson cake is really neat! Hope your cake comes out great with the borders! I will have to try them sometime, too!
I will definitely post pics when I done and the tip I use. I haven't been uploading my pics lately - just too many, but I will
Oh, I'm actually getting excited about this - something new and different!
Thanks for the London Cakes website. Wow, do they have gorgeous things! Besides their beautiful borders, I love the writing they put on the cakes--it's absolutely perfect!!!
O.k.....it's an English border - a modified Lambeth. I had some books by Mary Ford that featured this type of border.
Use a large open star tip like 32 or so; it's just a curved, long tailed shell built up to 3 or more layers - some of which can be a different color.
The 1st layer has a slight zigzag, then a straight layer; next, maybe a smaller star tip layer either straight or slight zigzag; then a med round tip - like 4. This can have a zigzag or be straight; but from there decrease the size of the tip by one for each layer on top. You are always piping right on top of the previous work.
Yes, Its funny how something so simple has a different border can get us all excited ! Im the same way ! Good Luck !
OM How elegant and different. I was just searching for borders to do my dd's cake in 2 weeks. Thanks so much!!
Thanks for posting that border. It's very different and pretty. I will have to try it some time.

I am sending my husband this YouTube video now. He can make anything! Anyone who wants a wooden "practice cake" let me know. I'm going to start a list. Seriously!
when i saw that video i was like that's a lot of work for a border but it really does look pretty.
