This is my 1st real wedding/35th Wedding Anv. cake, what do you think? I have one question, to keep the top tiers level and tight whats the trick? I am so scared its going to fall over....I have so many dowels and ect in this cake but still a bit scared, wabbly yes but not to where it would just give, any thoughts or tips, going to set up Sat. morning!
Cake in my Gallery looks alot better then this one I had to resize!
You did wonderful. I love your cake. Great job. Can't believe that is your first cake.

I believe it's her 1st wedding/35 anniversary cake (possibly a paid order). She has other cakes in her album as well.
Great job on the cake.

I'm not sure what you mean by "tight"? I just put my 4 dowels in the cake, then set the next tier on top of it. Done.
I also like the colors....what kind of flowers are those? Are they real or silk?
I have done many of cakes, and the wedding cakes I have done are samples and play cakes, this one is an order! And wow at that! I have done so many birthday-baptims cakes, but not a wedding/Anv. cake for sale yet, but have 4 orders within the next year!
The question with the cake being wabbly is, the top tiers are on posts and it was not 100% leavel so I filled the post with tissus and the placed the plate on, them and they are not clicked in tight, in this case what should a person do?
Did you run a dowel through top to bottom? I am sorry if I am not reading the description well but I am not following it.
It does look really pretty. Great design and wonderful work.
I think you'll find that using SPS to support your cake will make it quite sturdy - no wobbles. No dowels either. Are you going to take it apart for transport?
ok, the bottom 2 tiers, I have 4 dowles, and then cake plate, with them clip sticks attached. then 4 pillers, and cake plate, top is very HEAVY! and when I put the top tier on it does not sit 100% level in the pillers, so I filled them with tissue paper, so the cake looks level. sits nice but when table bumps and kids walk hard on our floors its not real wabbly but wabbly. Si should I also put hot glue in the pillers so the plate legs adhere, good to it, just tomake sure or any other Ideas? I guess its good to go but being my 1st wedding sale cake I wanna be 100% on it! Top has 3 dowlesand 1 down the center...Thanks A Million for helping me out! I just love this site!
Yes I am I am takeing it apart for transport. The top is in its box already, Its stressfull everyone is right, maybe after like my 3rd i will feel alot more conft. in myself!
Like I said Thanks a Million guys!
I think you've got to find out why the cake is not sitting level on the pillars, and correct whatever it is.
Ok, I took it apart and found the problem, 2 of my dowles were off kilter! Wow, I got it, will updat tommarow night, Thanks
Off to bed, my mind is not going to make it much further!
what's a clip stick?
HEY! don't go to bed until you answer this. I want to know also. Good grief now I'll wonder what this is all night long.

I'm gonna suspect that it's those little white plastic sticks from Wilton that supposedly keep your plate in place. There's a warning on the package not to use them for support.
ok, what I am calling them clippy sticks its them things from wilton, thats you said. I am not using them for support but to keep the plate in place. I have alot of dowles in this cake. Its not going anywhere. See I do have lots to learn. I was going through all the supplys that I bought from this woman months back , like 15 big boxs full! And guess what I found 2 SPS sets for a 5 tier cake! URGH and I now know! But thanks again I plan to take some pics after set up with table scape and will post tonight..

Oh man, I'm jealous!
Is it possible to place a couple of dowels through the entire cake top to bottom?
Without knowing what cake plate and stand setup you are using it is hard for me to visualize.
But I do have an idea. As big as those flowers I think you can use that to your advantage. Do you think that you could wrap dowels in a matching color or ribbon and place them discretly (hidden by the flowers) in the cake to stabilze the cake plate bottom to flaten or level the top tier to your liking?
Great cake!
As far as the wibbles wobble thing, I keep a plastic level in a box of misc. cake decorating tools. If, like today I did one using seperator plates I don't pass go, until that bubble is right smack in the middle. A tiny bit off the bottom tier will result in a big lean by the time you get that 5th tier on.
Leah, cross my heart--I'm getting the SPS. I HATE what I have to go through each time the dowel way. Your instructions rock by the way girl! And.. I'm sure your cakes don't
