I've seen alot of questions on here about these. Here is how I do them...with pictures!

Thanks so much! I have never done this and it actually looks pretty simple after looking at your pictures. Your efforts are appreciated!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been wanting to try this. I usually do colorflow. Can't wait to try this.

I also usually go to colorflow, but this looks so much easier. Since I am a slow learner... A couple questions: what consistency of frosting do you use, can you make it early and leave in freezer till ready, and do you use same frosting to go over back?
Thanks again for doing this for us visual learners.
I use the buttercream dreams recipe on my website, no variation. I only thicken it slightly for roses.
I have left them in the freezer for days at a time before using. I imagine if you were going to leave it for a long period of time it would need to be wrapped to keep the buttercream from picking up an off taste.
I use the same frosting to go over the back.
I actually made this car for an elderly lady who decorates her own cakes at home but wanted one of these for a cake for her husband. I made this car and froze it and stuck it in a styrafoam container. She took it home, re froze it and put it on her cake, it worked great!
I'm also a visual learner and when I first learned to these the tutorials that were out there confused the heck out of me!!
tasteebakes that is a really great tutorial on the transfers, thank you for sharing that.
Do you prefer the transfer versus a printed image on a frosting sheet? I have not had either one.
I don't have a printer that can do that? This was the best way I had for giving my customers an edible image. Someday I will buy a copycake (or my distributers less expensive version) and I may not do this as often.
I do occassionally put a photo on heavy paper and attach it to a peice of rolled out gumpaste. I dislike doing this because they have to lift an inedible thing off the cake before serving. But it looks nice, that is how I did the Clint Eastwood cake in my pics.
I am a little confused. When you say that after you complete the picture that you add more icing to the back. Can you explain how you add icing to the back, are you flipping it over, or what?
Hazel!
I should have taken a picture of it! I squirt icing from the same parchment bag as I used to add the colors. It's basically a second layer of frosting over the first.
