Thanks JanH the first link isn't what I'm looking for and the second link doesn't seem like cakefairy wants to share. So I'm kind of back to square one. Hopeing someone can help me out.

I have never made sfoglia but the method I learned about and ate was similar to the first link Jan gave, which was a custard base with fruit/other layered on, then topped with pastry and baked. Served flipped over and chilled.

If that is not what you are looking for can you describe what it is you are looking for? That would help a lot.

Is it more like this?

or a Napoleon?

Those can be layered to make a taller 'cake' and then glazed or left in one layer. They have pastry on both sides rather than just one.
