One of my students gave me a big tube of guava filling. It looks fantastic and it was a lovely gesture. My only problem is, I am coming up blank on ideas as to what to do with it. Any suggestions? It's premade, just like the tubes you get of strawberry, raspberry or lemon, but this is guava. I'm sure it's delicious, but it's a flavor that I'm unfamiliar with so I am coming up with no ideas for it. Oh, and I'm allergic to coconut, so that idea is out! icon_smile.gif

Thanks for any suggestions!

Pair it with Dominican cake, a vanilla cake or butter pound cake. And mix with Imbc to make a nice filling. Also drizzled over chocolate cupcakes. Can I ask where your friend purchased it. I love Guava!

She gets it online. I'll ask her on Weds what website she orders from. Actually, I can email and ask her. What is Imbc? Thanks for your suggestions!

Italian Meringue buttercream. There are recipes on this forum. It is fluffier than regular buttercream and fruit fillings mixed with are heavenly!!

I have also heard of guava filling used to fill lemon cake, but I have never tried that. I would think the layers of filling would be thin and alternate with a vanilla flavored filling.

Also, we spanish people like it with Dulce de leche in alternating thin layers because both are rather sweet.

what if you use the non dairy topping, it's called pastry pride, whip that up and fold in the guava filling, as to make like a mousse or cream and put as filling with a vanilla cake. Hope that helps.... icon_smile.gif

Guava has a very particular taste and texture, so it might seem difficult to pair it at first.

I would probably use a "neutral" cake flavor like the ones already suggested (vanilla or butter pound), and use a not-too-sweet cream cheese buttercream... guava paste and cheese are a wonderful combination, so I guess the tandem should work this way too.

I mix the guava filling with Mousseline Buttercream. It is wonderful! I've used it as filling with the WASC. I had a bride order the guava mousseline with a pink champagne cake.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I am still holding this tube in my hands trying to decide which idea to try first. I think there's about 4 or 5 cups in here so I can probably make a good bit of stuff. I was also thinking about making cookies, like Linzer Tart cookies and using this as the filling. I thought that might be tasty. Maybe in thumbprint cookies as well. I need to make something for a women's retreat I'm going on the weekend after Labor Day so I might make cookies. I was thinking about making a yummy chocolate cake but I don't know how well that will travel. I don't know what kind of supplies we will have there as well for serving and eating cake, so maybe cookies would be easier... finger food!

Thanks again and keep the suggestions coming! I have a LOT of this stuff to use up! I know it will be great, I just have to figure out when/where/how to use it!
