I seem to be getting more and more of these. I turned down one yesterday (she wanted it for today!) and she actually got snippy with me on the phone!

How do you rate your rush order charge? Or do you just do a random - what-kind-of-mood-am-I-in-today charge?

I've not ever had to do this, but if I did I'd probably go with the "whatever mood I'm in" method.

PITA callers would have a $300 minimum fee added to the actual price of the cake ... just because I felt like it! icon_twisted.gif

hmmm, I agree, whatever mood I'm in, how sorry they are to be calling last minute, how many orders I already have, or if I just plain need a day off would also factor in.

My minimum order is $200.00 so I would probably charge an aditional $50.00 for less that 7 days notice.

I had to do the same. That is I charge rush fee. I had so many people calling me with last minute orders that I now charge 10% more on the total price of cake. This is just enough for people stop and think, but not an outrageous charge. The way I see it, if they want the cake that badly then they wont mind being charged for putting me through the stress of getting them the cake they want on short notice. If nothig else you'll get them to understand that they need to call you in a timely manner for their next event that they want a cake for. That's just what I think. icon_smile.gif

I don't do rush orders. Just because they can't remember their kidlet's b-day doesn't mean I should bust my @$$ with their order. I have enough customers who order ahead of time.
