I just bought an epson printer at target for 39.99 plus tax!!! I have been searching posts because someone posted that they have one and I am trying to figure out which ink cartridges will work. Please let me know asap b/c dh is willing to buy me the stuff today! but who knows if his offer will stand tomorrow! lol ( he is going on a golf trip with friends so I think he feels a little guilty!)
I have the epson cx 7400. don't know what the difference is, though. I get my ink at kopykakes. if you go to that site it will tell you what will fit for that printer. hth
I was interested in buying a printer for edible images. Can any new printer be used for this as long as the ink is edible and you print on rice papar?
Sorry to hijack but this has been a quesiton on my mind for a while.
Thank you for any informaiton!!

Yes and no. I say this because edible ink cartridges are NOT available for every printer make and model. So you're better off looking at edible ink availability, and THEN choosing your printer.
Good luck!!!
I boight one of these also but it was for the office. The CX7450 takes #69 or #88 ink catridges and the edible ink cartirdges are 60's. You can call the KopyKake people and ask (I'd like to know for future reference) but I doubt the 60s are compatible. The C88 is the only model listed in the Epson website for inks and it takes 60s.
Hold the phone. I poked around on the kopykake website and found a pdf with lists of printers and the CX7400 are there and show the 69 ink cartidge number but it looks like you need to buy a chip resetter too.

hmmmm I have the cx7400 and I don't have the chip resetter and mine works fine. anyone else have the chip resetter?
I would LOVE to get an edible ink printer, but don't you have to use it at least once a week so the ink doesn't clog??? Anyone know for sure?
I have had the Epson CX7450 for nearly a year now (LOVE IT) and it takes the following edible ink cartridges from KopyKake:
Individual Colors:
ITEM#TO692-C (Cyan)
ITEM#TO694-Y Yellow)
ITEM#TO691-B (Black)
ITEM#TO693-M (Magenta)
Or, the entire set of the above four cartridges is ITEM#TO695SET (for Epson CX6000)
I have never had the chip resetter and have never needed it. Not sure what it's for. Others have said they're necessary in order for your printer to know what the color levels are on the cartridges....but that's not important for me (I have a refill set as backup). I have rec'd a message that the ink is low or out....but you just snap the cartridge out of it's holder in the printer and snap it back down and it's off and running again! I've never had a clog and have let it set unused for up to a month with no problems!
I HIGHLY recommend this particular printer! Also, I've never printed on rice paper...only sugar sheets. Has anyone else printed on rice paper? The kind I can get it pretty thick and rigid and I wouldn't think that would work too well? Anyone?

same with me. and I use frosting sheets, is that the same as a sugar sheet?
I also have an epson that sits for months at a time and it has never clogged on me, unlike the canons. You can also purchase refillable cartridges on ebay that don't require a chip resetter and refilling saves a lot on ink.
Oh my gosh, Target just lowered the price to $29 for this printer!!! I also ordered the set of ink from KopyKake and it works like a charm!!! THis is a deal!!
I just went to Target yesterday to get one and they were gone. The cashier offered to give me a raincheck. It is good until Oct. 05. I didn't even think to ask for a raincheck.
Okay. I went out and bought the printer from Target 'cause I'm not about to miss out on that deal. Now, anyone know who has the best price/deals on edible ink? I found Kopykake has them for $72. Is this a good price or can I get a better deal somewhere else?
Also, what is the difference between the frosting sheets and wafer/rice paper? Last year I bought an edible image on Ebay for my grandson's kid's birthday party and it was like eating paper on icing. It was horrible. And I put the thing on several days before the party. I have no idea what kind of sheeting it was so I want to steer clear of that kind for my own printing.
Thank you, thank you. I have wanted one of these printer for so long. I really wanted one and when I read your post I went online right away. I went online to target.com and found them on sale with shipping and tax for Under $50. Use that raincheck if you can online. I live in a rural area too far to get to the Target myself so online was my only option. Thank you again for letting us all know about this amazing deal!
And everyone else thank you for the kopykake ink cartridges and your experiences with the printer and sugar sheets.
How do the sugar or icing sheets taste? Are they yummy or paper like? Are they basically a sheet of Bc or fondant?
I bought my ink from kopykake. THey are cheaper than some other sites and their customer/technical support rocks.
rice paper tastes like paper. The frosting sheets are what you find on your cakes from DQ. They are very soft and have a slight sweet taste to them. I would never use the rice paper again after using the frosting sheets. HTH
Well, Kopykakes it is for the ink!
Thanks so much for the info on the frosting sheets. I guess I bought the wrong image. Not any more!! I'm a gonna print my own...........as soon as I order the ink and figure out how to do it
Thanks for the info. I wanted to get a printer JUST for edible images. Plus my mom works at target so I get a discount (basically no tax) so my DH said I could get one! And Kopykake is 2 minutes away from me!!! I feel like I won the lottery, well maybe the edible image lottery =) Right on time for my sons 1st birthday.
I bought a canon ip3500 used it for the first time. Bought the ink from Kopykake and the frosting sheets too. I tasted some without a picture or on a cake and I thought it tasted lousy, but after I put it on the cake and asked everyone at work how the paper tasted they all said it was fine. I also tasted it after it was on the cake and it wasn't bad. I had trouble taking the sheet of the backing. It started to rip all all four corners that I tried to pull off. I was disappointed in that. My cake was for work and just for fun so it wasn't a big deal but I'd like to find out how to take it off the backing without ripping the sheet.
Once this was posted I rushed out to Target to get one and I paid $39.99 for it it was only one left on the shelf and like 2 days later it went on sale for $29.99 after I had already opened it and used it!!! That sucks lol!
Just this morning I was wondering about printed images and now I see this post, it's fate. I will rush to Target and see about getting one, I can't afford the ink right now but at least it's half the battle!
Thanks to the OP, you are so kind to share!
bsalto.. Just stick your icing sheet in the freezer for maybe a min and then it should come right off.
Ok, I'll try that. My husband's bday is in one week and my second edible image will be of him and the boys on the cake. I love this thing!!!

Does Target have a policy that if you buy something and it goes on sale the next week you can bring in your sales receipt and get the sale price? Some stores will do that but I don't know about Target. Worth asking at your local store.
Most stores have a 7-day policy, where you can take in your receipt and they will give you the difference. I bet Target does too.
I got mine! I rushed out tonight after I saw that it went down another $10. Gotta wait for the ink and sheets, but I'm one step closer!
I bought the printer when it was 39.99 and then it went on sale 7 days later. I just took in my receipt and they credited me the 11 dollars. I did not have to take in the printer. The cashier said that they honor up to 14 days with receipt.
My sheets too would not come off but if you pop them in the freezer for just a minute they will come right off.
I am so excited I want to print off a whole bunch of stuff but with the price of the ink I can't play too much!
If you pull your sheet down over the edge of your counter top it will pop right off the paper
