My brother is having a double-party for his oldest son and his daughter in September. My niece wants princess, and my nephew wants Spiderman on the cake.

I was thinking of doing a stacked, two tier cake with spidey on the bottom (10") and princess on the top (6"). Will this look really really bad?

I'm not sure how to incorporate them at all. Any ideas would be great!!!

TIA!

You could incorporate them by having spidey save the princess from ...... something.

I thought about that, but I've never tried figures, and I think something like that might require figures instead of flat things (chocolate transfer, etc.).

No one else has any ideas?

What about half princess half spiderman? Like looking from one side you only see princess, and from the opposite side you only see Superman. It might require more work in you are using fondant, but they would each feel like part of the cake is their own.

This is a challenge! But thats what makes our job more exciting! Good luck!

This is a hard one... How about a ] castle with a big spider web on one side?

My grandson turned 7 yesterday. He started out by asking me for a star wars cake. Then he decided he wanted Veggie Tales. I asked which, he insisted on BOTH! He wasted the star wars to be chocolate, veggie tales strawberry. So his cake had both flavors, star wars figures and veggie tales with light sabers. Strange request but oddly it worked okay. He loved it and that was the most important thing!

You could do a sheet cake with a princess and Spiderman interacting. Maybe they could both be dancing, or wearing a party hat, or both carying presents or the number of the age of each child in their hand, like they are coming to the party too. I think that would be a fun and more simple way to do this. Good luck! We are looking forwward to seeing what you decide to do.

I made a two tiered cake for my niece and nephew a year ago. One side was a girly orange (her choice) castle with princesses and the other side was a grey boyish castle with a knight. Pics of each side are in my photos. You could do a girly pink castle with storebought princesses (since you don't want to do molding) on half and make the other half look like buildings with some webs and a plastic Spiderman climbing up the side.

With my niece and nephew, we turned it to show her castle and sang to her and she blew out her candles, then we turned it around and did the same process for my nephew. It worked great. They both felt like they got their own cake, but my sister really only got one cake (her request) and didn't have to have lots of leftovers.

I know you'll come up with something great. Please post updates and pics..

That's what I was thinking. Spiderman coming to rescue the Princess?

Okay I totally saw a half one side and other side half tier-- one side could be a princess with a crown and on the other side of the stacked cake the back of the crown could be spideys web. I suffer from delusions of cake grandeur-- I can sure think them up, but execution usually falls short- hee hee. Let me know if you want to discuss further, I could scan some sketches and send to you, lol-- I love the idea of singing Happy B-day and then swiveling the cake and singing again-- there is such a wealth of insight and experience on this site!

Val

Here is what I did,but mine was for a customer who picked the kits and wanted it on a budget. I would really get creative if it was for family!

Be sure to post your finished cake here for us to see!

Thanks for posting all the great ideas!!! I'm really liking the "spinning" of the cake. icon_biggrin.gif

I'll definitely post what I do come up with, but it's not for some time yet. I figured something this...interesting might take time to plan out. icon_wink.gif

Thanks again everyone!!!!!

The new Wilton 2009 Yearbook has a Spiderman Cake where Spiderman is popping out of a box--you could do that half/half with Princess and Spiderman too.

Keep us updated!
