I am trying to make a fondant horse for the Cinderella coach cake I will be making for my DD's 3rd birthday in a couple of weeks (I'm using Satin Ice fondant with Tylose).

I did a trial run last night and here's my problem. I was pretty happy with the head, but the legs were all smushed down from the weight of the body.

I'm thinking that maybe for attempt #2, I should make legs out of gumpaste, let them dry, then make and attach the body/head.

This is the first fondant/gumpaste figure I have attempted - I'm using the upcoming birthday to challenge myself. At least both of my kids, upon seeing attempt #1 thought it was a horse!!! My DH says it reminds him of the horse from the Bugs Bunny cartoon --- I think next time I'll use less fondant!

If anybody can offer any suggestions, I would really appreciate it!!

I use fondant + tylose as my gumpaste. (Satin Ice GP doesn't dry well) I would do the legs and let them dry then put the rest together.
