I just saw about this site and their are alot of real talented people here. But I came across a picture that is clearly not real. How come they let them post pictures that are doctored? Isn't there a way to check? Look;

I saw lots of kool cookies but they were real cookies made with frosting or royal frosting and this looks like someone copied and pasted a picture, like a painting or clipart and put it on their cooky. How is that allowed? But there were lots of other really nice actual cookies in the pic section. Some of you'all are so talented!!

They are REAL cookies!!!!! She's an artist and does each one individually. Do a search for posts by her and you can find the thread where we discussed how much to charge for them.

I have to say they are real cookies. The first one is her avatar and I remember the post about the cookies.

These look like real cookies to me. The description on the Van Gogh flowers says they are hand painted and they look hand painted. We have some incredibly talented people here.

There a lot very talented cake artists on this site. I know that some of members have taken Donna Dewberry's classes just so they can paint on cakes. But Cake Diva is definitly an artist and a good one too.

What makes you think these are doctored photos?

You're right about one thing...there are some REALLY talented people on this site- AND SHE IS ONE OF THEM!!!! There are also alot of us who look out for one another and don't appreciate any of our work being questioned- especially in a forum!!!

Seriously...why couldn't you have sent the decorator a PM or something instead of trying to make a public display if you didn't think they were real??????

Actually, yes, they are quite real. CakeDiva73 is a very, very talented artist and cookie decorator. Her work is absolutely amazing.

Those are real cookies. She's talked about how they were done before and I've done enough with fondant and cookies too to know that it would be possible (if I had her artistic talent which I don't).

You can paint on fondant using food colorings thinned down with vodka. You can also mix food coloring and white frosting coloring (the messy wilton one) to get opaque colors.

You can put fondant onto a cookie really easily. Just roll the fondant and cut it with the same cookie cutter you used for the cookie, and put it on top of the cookie when it's warm from the oven, and the heat of the cookie will melt the fondant just enough to stick it on.

I've seen some lovely cakes here which were achieved by painting on fondant...some done to look like Italian pottery and also some done to look like Mexican tiles.

Not to be mean to a brand-newbie such as you are, but as a newbie I would think you would be more cautious before accusing someone of falsifying their photos.

Cakediva is definitely an artist and produces beautiful, real, cakes and cookies.

Her cookies are absolutely beautiful. She is an artist that takes her time to create. They are wonderful to look at. For anyone taking that much care, they are sure to be delicious.

I look forward to the day when I can proudly display such a high level of skill.

i dont think you are mean..or mean, mean...if someone was cutting and pasting pictures into their submissions i would be annoyed by it too..but what would anyone have to gain from that?

besides that, neither of those pictures look computer-ly altered to me..they look (and obviously are) real, real real. and i most likely wasnt even a member of cc, when they were originally posted, or discussed- meaning its a totally unbiased & uniformed opinion- but either way, they look real-and appparently are, which brings me to;

well it says the person is a person here but they don't look like anything you could eat. The blue one is all swirly but the flower one looks printed. I saw another one one here with an eye on it,maybe olympics or something and that one was cool but looked painted. (not by the same person- I will find it.)

ok, so she says she actually did them LOL. I have worked in a bakery for years and we do some cookies, mostly cakes that are sheet cakes but any kind of cookie we have done there is no way I can see of a non-printed way to make it look like that.

We just got one of those printers that print on paper you can eat and I think thats what she did was print it and stick it on there or something. Those printers are real fancy, we even charge extra for them! So I'm, not a total hick LOL.

I realize that you are new to this site but before you begin to make accusations in a thread where it is a public record you could PM the poster of the picture or report the photo to the moderators.

She's fantastic, and I am jealous!!

If you look in the picture with the flowers, you can see that part of the brown wasn't dry yet when she took the picture. It takes a while for food coloring to dry on fondant.

Lots of people here use the edible image printers for various things. It does give things a neat look...but that's not how that cookie was done.

Sometimes it's kind of humbling to see the kind of talent that some people here have...but just because you can't imagine creating something like that doesn't mean that it's not possible.

Just think of how you would feel if you posted pictures of some of your work (because I notice that you haven't yet ) and someone started a post basically calling you a liar...it wouldn't feel very good.

I don't think anyone here "tinkers with their photos". They are all original works of art., good or bad. Maybe the bakery you worked in didn't hand paint cookies but some people do. It's very common to "paint" on fondant. Did your bakery cover cookies in fondant?

CakeDiva, if you are reading this, I love your Stary Night (when I was in design school, I did a replica of The Church at Auvers. I just LOVE immating Van Goghs strokes and you did it just perfectly!)

I don't get this thread at all...it is VERY obvously a painted cookie!!! And very well done too! The orignal poster of this thread should, well, quite frankly go back to the hole from where she crawled in from!

what CakeDiva and so many others on CC do, just like Colette Peters, Margaret Braun, Mike Carey, Ron Ben-Israel, Scott Wollery, etc. = HIGH couture -- Hermes, Louis Vitton, etc.

Everyone PLEASE go easy on the OP (original poster)...she just joined today. She is new and probably hasn't seen the level of cake decorating that is displayed here. Let's look at it as an honor that she thought it was an edible image and not hand painted. She is probably not familiar with hand painted cookies. Give her some more time to browse and PLEASE, no slamming, PRETTY PLEASE?

I know you are all quick to tell me what I did wrong and how I am so rude but what the heck is a pm? And why was that better than asking the question in an open forum?

I work at a commercial bakery, a VERY busy one! So I don't have pictures of my cakes because I sell 'em. But if my own talent is being questioned then I will hunt up a picture, and you can dog gone guarantee it will be a picture of a REAL cake or cookie that I made! with no printable paper or any of that nonsense.

I been looking around more and more and with all these business names across the pictures, was it that big of a jump to wonder if when they were putting those on they decided to add a little bit here and take a little bit off?

And I am sorry but neither of those two cookies looked like food or a cookie or anything that you would want to be puttin' in your mouth! And I'm no 'newbie' as you called me. I've been decorating for near ten years in the busiest bakery in town and can pipe a rose faster than you can blink. (I know that's a hard thing to master and I sure have and am proud of it!)

And I'm not new to the world of computers either. Just didn't realize this forum was so strict so I guess I'll just keep any kind of realistic or negative comment to myself. And I'll expect the same in return LOL.

Anyone that has taken a wilton course can pipe a rose. Maybe you coud show us your gumpaste flowers or carved, 3D cakes. The business names have been added to the cake photos so the photos can't be taken and used on someone's elses website.

This reminds me of another thread regarding photo comments that were just down right rude. That person also had just joined. I hope this is not someone just trying to stir up trouble..........
