How Do I Get A Dark Brown Frosting For Piping?

Hello everyone!
I'm making a wedding cake for Tuesday! The cake is white frosting with dk.brown scroll work and lavendar accents. I cant figure out for the life of me how to make dk brown frosting!!! I made chocolate frosting, and it look like the shade of chocolate milk. Then I added brown food coloring to it. I added a lot of food coloring and it never got quite dark enough. I added some black (a lot came out when I went to squirt it in! ) and it turned grey!!! I'm so frustrated....
Any tips? help? I would so appreciate it! The good thing is, today is only saturday and the wedding isn't until tuesday!

Have you thought about using melted chocolate? Dark chocolate wafers would give a dark brown color with a smooth finish.
have you tried ganache? chocolate and whipping cream.
I've used it for scroll work, worked great.
adding strong coffee in place of the milk ( if making chocolate )will both compliment the flavor and darken it a bit. I have also found that americolor brown tends to be more toward the red's family whereas wilton is more of a true brown ( normally I prefer americolor) Black def doesn't help- I made that mistake once!! also remember that it will darken if it sets a while- good luck
If all else fails, buy some canned icing. You can make it stiffer with some powdered sugar! No reason to kill yourself making the color if you don't have the right tools.
p.s. Do you have no-fade purple food coloring to make the lavender with? If not, the color will fade to blue the moment you get into bright light. I never offer lavender as an icing color for this reason.
