Mininvixen~ you are so sweet to offer your home for a get together! I think it sounds like so much fun and I am really looking forward to meeting some fellow cake-aholics. Maybe we could bring a few recent examples of our work, share ideas, techniques, etc. I'd love to pick your cake inclined brains!
Name a day...I'll be happy to see y'all in Franklin!
I live in Owensboro Kentucky (about 2 hours from Nashville) and would love to come if it is not on a cheer competition weekend.
i'm glad y'all are open to the idea!! we could try it at least once, see how it goes, and then just plan from there.
this also gives me great motivation to get my hiney up there and finish the studio...right now, there's only a path leading through the area. i need to get it cleared so i can start taking orders again!
i'm so looking forward to getting to meet everyone!!!

That is really nice of you to offer your house for meeting. I would love to be a part of this...if my schedule allows. It is about a 2 hour drive for me from Chattanooga, but would be well worth it.
I love the "sharing of ideas" and we could also each bring a recipe that we may be willing to share?? Just a thought.
We could also all post ideas of techniques we always wanted to try, but haven't. If someone in the group has done it before, maybe they would be willing to do a "demo" for us at one of the get-togethers?

What a gracious offer to have this at your home!!
I would be coming from Knoxville, but my mother is there in Centerville in a nursing home---so I could totally make it a weekend trip and get to see her too!
Thanks so much again!
This is great! I lived in Franklin about 3 years, but now I'm back home in Hendersonville. This will be so much fun and I would very much like to be a part of it. Count me in & I'll help as much as I can doing whatever needs to b done. I like the potluck idea too. Hey, littlesusie in Hermitage----my sisters name is Susie & lived in Hermitage for a long time! How weird is that!?!? We could hook up & ride to Franklin together (save gas to buy cake stuff ).
Y'all, I'm so pumped about the prospect of meeting all of you! When should we set the date? Mixinvixen, maybe we should leave it up to your schedule since you have been so gracious to offer your home. Joy5678, so funny that your sister is Susie and lived in Hermitage! Actually, my name is Bethany...the "Susie story" is a long one...I'll leave that story for when we meet! I'd be happy to carpool!!!
so here's what i'm thinking:
now that i have alot of people counting on me to get this done more quickly, i'm putting it on my calendar to start in a few days. i'm painting my daughters bedroom right now, then on over to the master bedroom area to organize the closet, then on up to the cake studio! i believe i should be ready for that step by this coming weekend.
please be warned that the room will not be 100% decorated and ready to go with tons of comfortable furniture, as is planned for the future, but it will accomodate everyone, and that is what is important. maybe everyone could bring a camp chair, along with their covered dish.
i'll keep y'all informed on the progress...i would love to do this within the next month, and we'll try our best to get a date that will work for most everyone.
off to work, now!
What a sweetheart you are to do this... I have my list started: one chair & one covered dish
I am just a hobby decorater, but I am about an hour north east of Cookeville. Probably an hour and 15 mins from Knoxville and about 2.5 hrs from Nashville. I don't know that I can come to this gathering as my October is very busy this year. But I'd love to meet with some other people and get tips and ideas. I am completely self-taught and have only been decorating for about a year, so I am open for any help I can get.
I'm a newbie decorator, but I would love to get together with others and talk cake. I also live in Franklin, so if you need any help getting something set up, let me know (arterr0 at netscape dot net). I would be glad to help.
I live in Rutledge, TN about an 45 min east of Knoxville. Local towns are Morristown and Jefferson City. There are some local Ladys that would love to be a part of this or maybe some are closer and would like to form a club. If this is sounds interesting please let me know.
the more the merrier!!
we'll just do a headcount when we get a date pinned down..probably in sept sometime, and then go from there with the planning.
what good is a big ole house without friends?
I am in Elizabethton just close to Johnson City. About 100 miles east of Knoxville. I have a couple of friends here that would love to get together with other cakers. Please, let me know if we can get to gether.
Thanks
Mimi
I just stumbled across this thread and was so excited to see so many others from TN! I am in Knoxville, and would love a chance to meet some other CCers! As many have mentioned, I too have a lot going on from the end of September through mid October, but I would love to meet up with some of you if the dates work out. I wouldn't mind heading out to Nashville, and carpooling too, if some of you from this area are up for it!
sounds like fun...how can we keep in touch so that we will all be on the same page?
Mimi
i was wondering that myself...once i get a date, i will post on this thread, which should make you get an email in your box letting you know someone has posted to this thread. make sure to click on that link to take you to cc, because i have found out by reading the small print that if you do not follow that link, the notices will stop being sent to you.
i will also try to pm each person who posted in the thread to let them know the date. i will include hotel info and directions to our house, which is quite easy, and right off interstate 65 and 840.
With me working full time and doing this "on the side" it would be hard for me to drive the 3.5 hours to Nashville. But I am definitely interested in meeting with other cake makers.
Hey---If there are others closer to the Knoxville area that would like to meet, it might be better to do it on this side of the state, rather than driving all the way to Nashville? Like I said, my mom is on the other side of Nashville in a nursing home, so I can go over pretty much any time and it's not a big deal.
But if there are other ladies who'd like to get together on this side, hey---I'm all for that, too!!
I'm flexible in either direction. I love "ROAD TRIPS" , but will be happy to meet with anyone east of chattanooga.
Mimi
I think that would be a cool idea. I would love to meet closer than Nashville. And I would even be willing to help "organize" a meeting.
I'm in Memphis, TN and try to get together with our West Tennessee Cake Club whenever possible.
Leah Langford, as mentioned earlier is one of the nicest people around. She is extremely talented, giving, helpful and always puts together a nice "day of sharing" for us. Send her an email if you are on this side of Tennessee.
