Okay, now that I have read (and experienced) all these falling over cakes, I am convinced there is a naughty cake ghost or brownie, or imp that goes around looking for really nice cakes, ones that are finished and on the way, and even at the site, and then he goes "he, he, he" and he knocks them over!!!!!

About 3 years ago, on another forum, we named him Cake Gremlin. And not only does he knock cakes over, but he

*crawls into the oven when you're not looking and shakes the cake pan so the cake falls

*hides the third egg that you need for your batter recipe

*steals your leaf green food color And your rose tip or ball tool

*peels the cupcake liners off the cupcakes when your back is turned

*imposters your client, turning them into a Zilla

Anyone else have anything to add? icon_lol.gif

I think it puts cracks in the icing on your cake that has been sitting perfectly still, as well.

Just the other day the Cake Gremin hid my grass tip until I bought a new one. Then, just wen I had my back turned, he put it right there in the cabinet where it was supposed to be. Darn him!

Oh yeah - last week when I opened my pantry door, he pushed a container of colored sugar off the top shelf and it so gracefully decorated my ENTIRE kitchen floor. He's such a fun guy!

He hid my orange color AND my tip #32. And also replaced them in their usual spot after I bought replacements icon_twisted.gif

There must be some sort of ghost/gremlin repelant. We are pretty crafty people, we should be able to figure this out!

Yeah, if you don't want to sleep at night, or hire Tangina to come with her crew of parapsychologists to tape and cleanse the house.

He's an elusive little creature icon_evil.gif , not like other spooks which only come out at night - he's 24/7, or he has a brother. Oh, my gosh, what if they come in pairs!?!

And he has chameleon power - he can blend into the surroundings. He looked just like my blender the other day. icon_twisted.gif

The cake gremlin visited again last night. He decided it would be fun to put a water drop on the face of my edible image. Good thing I had an extra...

The little rat-stard got me today! icon_surprised.gif

One pan of brownies baked through, no prob. The other one took an extra 10 minutes. Now, I know that no oven bakes completely even, but this was ridiculous.

I just baked two weeks ago, and had even baking on both sides.

Just wait until I get him... the neighbor's dog looks hungry. icon_evil.gif

The little bugger got me yesterday!!!! I was going to make some SMBC and just as I started to make it I realized that I could not find my candy thermometer and then determined it had gotten broken in our move to Florida. I ran to the store and bought a new one and kept watching for the temperature to reach 120 degrees. It seemed as though it never got there. icon_cry.gif In the meantime the icing started to get brown in the bottom of the pan and the steam was very hot from the water and I finally gave up. When I cleaned everything up and was fussing about the 10 egg whites and 3 cups of sugar I wasted (thank heaves I did not get to the point of adding all the butter) I realized the Dastardly Cake Ghost had put the Farenheit temperature on the left side of the thermometer and Celcius on the right side and the right side was the side I was watching for it to get to 120. He will JInx me no more as I have read up on this creature and I am going to hang a frozen Salisbury Steak TV dinner on my kitchen wall to ward off his evil spirit and to keep my kitchen free of his dastardly deeds. I hope it work!! icon_smile.gifthumbs_up.gif Just Kidding about the TV dinner everyone.

What did you think the big F on that side meant?LOL icon_lol.gif

Actually, the naughty little bugger made the F little and on the left side and the C on the right side where anyone knows it should be the opposite. At least that is my logic. We use Farenheit when we cook not Celcius so it should be the most prominent display, should it not???? In my mind it should be, that is my story and I'm sticking to it! icon_lol.gif So everyone beware.... if you get a new candy thermometer, look to see if the Dastardly Cake Ghost has perhaps changed the sides for F and C. Oh, I also found out the Salisbury Steak frozen dinners do NOT work, it is the Frozen Turkey ones with the Apple Cobbler. See how tricky they are, they leave false information all over the place. icon_wink.gif

He takes perfectly crusted buttercream and makes is all moist again, so your icing comes right off on your viva towel

He takes a perfect smooth, beautiful fondant job and makes its crack.

I think he can take on many shapes, that is the bad thing, kind of like that guy on Terminator or like the wavy lines on Predator before he appears! Oh Foolish One, little does he know who he is up against when he messes with us cake bakers icon_mad.gif . He may win small inconsequential little battles, however, he will never win the War for WE HERE ON CAKE CENTRAL ARE UNITED AND UNITED WE WILL NOT GIVE UP THE CAKE WAR AND THEREFORE WE WILL NOT BE DEFEATED!!!! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif OUR ARMY IS STRONG AND DETERMINED and Melvira can shove a whole cupcake in her mouth at one time, so she will be leading us in our fight against the rats-ards, then they will see who they are up against, so na- na to them icon_lol.gif
