Who Has Done A Fondant Doll Cake? Help!

How do you put the fondant on the wonder mold doll cake?
Do you make a round circle of fondant and try to place it over and then cut out a hole?
Or do you make a strip and wrap it around, having a seam in the back?
I need to make one and not sure how to do it.
Thanks.
For the one and ONLY doll cake (it was for practice only) I made, I cut a circle, placed on the cake, placed the doll pick in, and trimmed the bottom. I also used sausages of fondant UNDER the dress to make pleats around the dress.
I have made them both ways. When I wrapped around, I put a piece inthe front and then wrapped from the back to overlap on the front. Made scalloped edges on the front part. Pic is in my photos.
I use a tip 10 and make a few rows of thick buttercream, drape my fondant over that and then use my finger to "sculpt" the fondant and buttercream rows into wrinkles and folds. I think it gives the dress a more nautral look instead of the rolls of fondant "sausages". Just another way to make it.
i made a doll cake once and made giant petal shaped pieces ...put the point at the center of the top and round part at the bottom...and then continued all the way around with i think 5 or so "petals"...then i made seperate fondant swags and attached them w/ bows i liked this because it made the dress look like it layered. it's in my gallery if you want to take a look...oh, and i covered the dress cake first with one giant circle too
I cut a hole then put the doll ( I use whole ones) in the naked cake, then remove. I do the sausages under and one round piece over the top, then cut out the little hole over the one already made in the cake. Insert doll, mask seam, and presto!
