WOW! Stunning cakes Ladies, the details and design and the work on these two cakes are breathtaking!!

If I could just do 1/4 of what you both have done, I would be in cake decorating heaven icon_biggrin.gif

It was hard to pick, because of all amazing details done of both cakes...so I had all 3 of my grandbabies help in picking our choice Sat., when they pics were posted. I told and show them how both cakes had lots of work put into them and about the details (big & small), and then we made our choice.

It took some time cause we would go from one cake to the other. My hats off to both of you for your wonderfully beautiful cakes. You both should be very proud!!! thumbs_up.gif

God Bless,
Sharon

I haven't read all the posts but I would like to say that my husband voted for me because I couldn't choose. I preferred the flowers on one cake and the cake of the other cake. Wow...both amazing cakes!

Both are beautiful, I can't believe the work they did and the hours they put into these master pieces, one has the perfect colors and those flowers are perfect and the other has perfect RI string work, the beautiful butterfly and very delicate flowers........OMG so hard to choose only one!!

So that's what you have been doing tiptop! We critique group members have been wondering where you went ! I voted for the cake I thought was yours ( I also liked it better but that might be because I was biased! icon_wink.gif ). Anyway, well done and a round of applause for you both! thumbs_up.gif

The main reason I think we are going to start doing the TD's without saying who's in which one.. so one won't pick the person... it needs to be the cake you pick... glad you said you picked the cake you liked... but this is the reason things are gonna change

Yeah I think that is a good idea. When I have voted I have always chosen the one I liked best, but it certainly makes it harder when one of the competitors is someone who you "know" because then if you think you recognize their work it makes it hard not to let you bias get in the way.

By the way wgoat how are people chosen to be in the throwdown? Not that I am interested at all, but out of curiosity (this could be a dumb question).

Somebody choses you .. or you chose somebody and ask them icon_smile.gif

Then you tell me or Lea (TeeCakes) and we write them down...

Lea challenged me in the first TD on CC... so she kinda is the baby momma LOL

It was hard to vote!! In the end I went detail for detail and it came down to the flower choice for me, so I chose the one I liked best based on flower look and arrangement, because every thing else was even steven for me!!
congrats to both of you!!!!

I do have one question though....I also looked at the other throwdown and I wonder what all the bumping meant...???

Shirl, you're such a class act. icon_biggrin.gif Congratulations to both of you for such gorgeous cakes. Bravo to Jacque! Now it's time to get back to the REAL work here -- venerable leader of our little subgroup. icon_lol.gif

Thanks SusieHazCakes I will be over the thread this weekend after I finish my last headless sculpture and will do some catching up on the Critique subgroup. As I told Wgoat5, I also have four art shows and a major art grant I have been working on........

Sorry I have been neglecting the Critique Subgroup icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gif

Ahhh, I was only teasing, Shirl. I didn't mean to lay more stress and pressure on. Wouldn't want you to snap! icon_cry.gif We're muddling through without you just fine. Good luck with everything and we'll see you on the flipside.

Thank you Shirl for honoring me with your Challenge. I had a great time, and making a cake for this challenge was a very fun diversion. I got to try out a few things that had been rattling around in my mind, but never actually took the time to do.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view our cakes and vote.

I would like to say that I am truly awed by Shirl Chouinard's incredible talent. Image

The extension work on her Challenge Cakes is a technique I still only aspire to, and her flowers are breathtaking. I only hope to attain the skill level that Shirl displayed on her beautiful cakes.

And, by the way, I didn't mean to "cheat" on the challenge by increasing the number of tiers. Just a "duh" moment on my part. Please forgive my oversight. It was not intentional.

Thanks again for including me in on this challenge. It has been a wonderful experience and a lovely chance to get to know you all better.
