Okay! I will bring the cake, but who will decorate it?

I spoke to Susan @Campbell's Gourmet Cottage in Louisville. What a nice, nice lady! She is getting her dates for classes, etc. ready to go to print, but said we could have the first or second week-end in September for the room. She needs to know so she can change some other class schedules for us.

There is a cost to the room: $100 for a few hours.

She would like to limit it to 24 if tables are used (due to the noise factor), but can fit 30 if some of the tables are eliminated.

I have to let her know by the end of the week.

What do you all want to do? It will cost us each approximately $4.17 if we have to have all tables and chairs, or $3.33 if there are 30 of us. If there are less than that, then we will divide the $100.00 evenly amongst us.

The cost is minimal for me. If only 10 people commit it's $10.00 a person. That's still reasonable. I would hope for more people the more fun and exciting information being shared. I'm addicted to cake decorating and everything about it!

I vote for table and chairs... that way we have workspace if we decide to do a workshop of any kind, or eating space if can have lunch brought in... Sign me up

I have a lot coming up in the next few months with Relay For Life and some other stuff going on, but I can always work 1 more thing into my schedule! Just let me know when.

I'd love to be involved - looks like there's some difficulties with times of year to get together - maybe we can do it more than once? I know there is a KY ICES, but I don't belong to it yet..... maybe we should contact them and see where they meet? I don't know if you have to belong to attend a meeting though..... maybe you do and that's more than people want to spend right now..... I dunno.

I'd love to get together though - heck it'd be cool if we could carpool and go look at some different cake shops in the area. I live right down the street from Conways, but I'm always disappointed when I go there. I always get supplies from countrykitchensa.com . They're great and pretty fast too - but I'd love to be able to "peruse" things and actually pick them up.... and not pay for shipping.... but I don't want to drive 40 minutes to get to a cake store either......

Are we planning any kind of activity? A mini class or technique teaching or anything? Please keep me in the loop! I work full-time, so my only real struggles are that I couldn't do anything during the day unless it was on the weekend. I'd have to do something in the evening after 5:30 if it was on a weekday.....

I'm in, not matter where I am at. I could be moving to South Bend, IN soon. but I don't care, I am going, going and good as gone to Louisville, KY. Just let me know when ,where, what I need to bring and how much.

Well, I will call Susan and reserve the room for the first week-end (Saturday) in September Thursday morning. That will give everyone who has been following this forum a chance to decide. Then we can all give our input about what we would like to do... RI, Fondant, Recipes, etc.

Sorry if any of you feel like it appears I am trying to direct this. I certainly do not mean to look like I am taking over... just thought we should go ahead and start something. We could talk and talk, but we needed to take some action. It is the Obsessive/Compulsive part of me (plus, I have been an Event/Meeting Planner for decades, in some form or another, so I naturally take the bull by the horns). Please do not be offended. If you all think I have overstepped any boundaries, let me know and I will back off.

We really need to keep the head count. The easiest way is for us to do this:
I will submit my name on a separate Reply starting today, Tuesday, June 03, 2008... the next person should copy it and put their name on it, and make a separate Reply... and so on and so forth. That way we will have an accurate up-to-date account of who is actually coming.

This is so exciting! I can hardly wait to meet you all because you have to be creative and of course, a little nutty to be in this business.

I would love to get together with other CC's, I'm from WI but I work for an airline so I could hop down for the day. Is the airport far from where ya all are looking to meet?

i want to play! i love to talk cake and i bore my sisters to death with cake talk. good thing my husband does cakes with me so we can talk cake a lot. i don't do a lot of wedding cakes so june or july is fine with me. please let me know

The airport is not that far... probably 15 minutes (depending on traffic), but on a Saturday, it will not be that bad. If we knew what time you were coming in, one of us could pick you up at the airport. I have to drive right next to it to get to the Watterson Expressway, so it would not be out of the way for many of us. The airport is right off I-65.

Oh yeah...funny about the RI Chrisit.
