Well, the Santa thing was just another way for us to get to know each other on a personal basis. It certainly would not take away from the day, as we could do it during lunch. Belonging to a quilt group online, each has sent each other pieces of fabric from around the world(and you know quilters have all the fabric they need). Now the quilt that has been put together by each has a special connection to every person who participated... I just thought that each of us has a specialty in our cake decorating (or will have) and it would be nice to do something for our new friends and fellowship. I was thinking of making some fondant characters that I use on some of my cakes and giving that as a gift... but if the majority of you decide otherwise, I will go along with it.

If you're taking a vote, I'd prefer not to do the Santa thing.

If the gathering is going to be in a church meeting room; could the church ladies cater our lunch?

I only ask because the best luncheon our soap and candle convention ever had was a buffet by church ladies....

(Of course, my 1st choice would be anything by indydebi!)

I can't make it. I have 2 weddings on Sept 6th. Have a great time!! Maybe we could plan another on in the Spring or something before wedding season next year. Can't wait to hear updates. Have a GREAT time!!!

I haven't been able to follow the forum real closely b/c CC keeps crashing every time i try to get on.... so now that it's up again, I just want to make sure that I'm on the list!

I think it would be cool if we had t-shirts with our Cake Central member names on them. If I could come up with a way to do these really cheap would everybody be interested in doing them? I've done the iron on t-shirt transfers that you print at home before. Just an idea. (Have I mentioned I'm excited about this??? LOL)

I just found out that the Tn State Fair has announced that Thurs, Sept 4, 2008 at 11AM is the deadline for turning in entries in Creative Arts; so all you Tn ladies interested in entering the competition, we can drop off our cakes and still be in Louisville on time.. Also, the cake decorating live competition is on Sept 16 this year, so we are safe for that event also....... We CAN do it all........

If someone has offered to do something specific could you also write that beside their name? I know most are just coming to watch and learn but some are offerring to teach or do certain things. A list would be nice so that we don't have duplicates. As I said before, I am brand new and don't even know how to get my BC icing smooth- so I voluntered to do the pictures. Photography & Scrapbooking are my other hobbies so this would be right up my alley! Just a suggestion. I hate to put more work on you thou! Thank you for doing all of this for us!

JanH responded to my fondant fairy/angel post thing, and talked about me doing a demo of my technique there, which I would love to do but looking through these posts I can't seem to find what y'all decided the date was to be? Is it September 6th? You're probably not doing it on a weekend, right?

I'm planning a trip to Tennessee (where I grew up) somewhere in the fall, and I'll try and make my trip happen around when this happens if I can; September sounds doable and I live in Chicago, so Louisville is on my way!
