lutie, you are so considerate, and if everyone would rather do a restaurant, I am so ok with that. As I said, it's an idea I wanted to throw out there. (And really .... compared to what I normally do, a lunch for 30 can be done with my eyes closed!)

I am absolutely ok with whatever everyone prefers to do.

fogot to add...if we go out to eat it will take time away from demos and sharing. It would be nice to have food brought in by the great indydeb. I would be willing to help her if there is something I could do once I get there too.

I am thrilled with the idea of "debi does lunch" icon_biggrin.gif You pick the menu, but there is no way you should do this for free... I am happy to pay..
This would make it so much easier for everyone.. I love this generous offer......... Thanks debi.....

I also think we should take indydebi up on her more than generous offer, with the only condition being that we get to pay her for our lunch! (But you still reserve the right to fix whatever you want!) icon_lol.gif I agree that it will take away from the afternoon to have to pack everything up, get back in the car, and travel to a restaurant when we have the wonderful opportunity to sample one of our own member's culinary talents! Oh, and I'm also willing to help out (even if it's doing dishes, whatever you need, Debi!)

I am free. I would really like to meet all of you and share cake stories. I can bring something to eat as well - just let me know. I am not to good on decorated cookies - yet!

Can't wait to meet all of you!! icon_biggrin.gif

Whatever the group decides, but we have to make a decision based upon the requirements of the venue. Personally, I thought that we should have made it easy on all of us if we use a church... yes, it would be great to eat everyone's food, but it would take no more time to go 5 minutes to drive to eat and there is no time wasted having to clean and pay for a custodian, etc. If there is food involved, then the church's policy usually includes the cost of a custodian, etc. plus some places have a policy in place to have a paid staff person in the kitchen. I know our church requires to have in the kitchen (whenever there is a caterer) the paid kitchen staff person(s), the custodian, and the proof of catering insurance and local license... and I live in a small community of 25,000.

Let us not make any decisions until I can get concrete answers. I will double-check on Monday what the policies and procedures are for having food at a meeting with several of the churches. Don't you love policies and procedures? icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif I do not want to be the wet blanket here, but know I want our first meeting to go off without a hitch.

It would be really simple if we are able to have it at Campbell's Gourmet Cottage, as she has all that in place, due to her cooking classes, etc. Then we could enjoy the fruits of Indydebi's fabulous offer (I still cannot get over your gift of hospitality) and everyone else's wonderful recipes. That margarita cheesecake sounds absolutely terrific, potato cakes, and the fried apple pies are a delicacy back home in Eastern KY! Do you used dried apples, wgoat5?

If we have no more takers to be put on the list, then we can still stay at the CGCottage and this will not have to be an issue. (Plus, we can shop after we eat if we are at the CGCottage). icon_lol.gif

How does this time schedule suit everyone?

9:00 Sign-In; Opening Introductions; and Getting to Know You
9:30 First Demonstration of ____________ + Practice
10:15 Break
10:30 Second Demonstration of __________ + Practice
11:15 Short Break
11:25 Third Demonstration of ____________ + Practice
(This would be a shorter demo)
Noon Break for lunch, Eat, and Continue to Fellowship
1:00 Fourth Demonstration of ____________ + Practice
1:45 Short Break
1:55 Santa ("Fondant") Gift Exchange
2:15 Fifth Demonstration of ___________ + Practice
3:00 Short Break
3:10 Wrap up with Ass't Questions & Answers: Short Demo's; Ideas;
Packets with all the Additional Available Information ; Fellowship
4:30 Close and Clean Up

Does anyone have some more ideas to add to the schedule? I will have to give times, activities, etc. to the venue, no matter where we end having the meeting. Please advise, everyone... what do you want?

Okay, I don't mean to be Negative Nellie, but I'd rather not do the secret santa thing. I'm just looking forward to getting together in a casual atmosphere and chatting, eating and learning new techniques! If everyone else wants to do it, I can participate, but just wanted to throw my opinion in there. To me, it's just more money to spend when it's not really necessary, and I'm sure most of us have so much cake stuff already, I feel like alot of us will probably end up getting a duplicate of something we've already got. Sorry to be a downer, and like I said, I'll go with the group on this one, but that's my .02! I'm just not a "games" kind of girl, I guess. icon_smile.gif

Oh, I have a request for a demo from someone. I would love to learn how to make some fondant/gumpaste flowers! Anyone who is an expert at this willing to volunteer? icon_biggrin.gif

So, LJ, would you want us to put you on first, due to the volatility of the butter cream? If everyone wants to bring their own supplies, then they could practice with you looking over our shoulders after you have shown us what to do.

Does that seem reasonable?

That sounds very reasonable to me... I will happy to go first. Absolutely, this can be a hands on demonstration.. As we get closer, I will send a list of supplies folks can bring who want to participate..

I am so excited about this class structure. I am game for any and all of it.
I think we will need a list of what each person is going to do and if it is a hands on demo If the teachers will send me a list I will compile a program of each demo and the items needed for us to bring if we want to learn that demo. I am a newbie, so I want to learn from all of you.
I have not done a BC rose since Wilton I class and mine all looked like cabbages. I can't wait to learn a new trick or two.

UPDATED LIST FOR LOUISVILLE MEETING ON SEPT. 06, 2008 AS OF
JUNE 10, 2008 @ 10:40 a.m.

Thanks so much wgoat5 (Christi) for keeping this "bumped" (although I still do not know exactly what that means... but it worked!icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif ) I have never taken the time to find out all the acronyms, etc. on this site... there is so much info about our profession which causes me to become so absorbed that I never check out the little things that make this site work!

Please, please, please make sure your name is on the following list if you are definitely coming. I cannot make any definite venue reservations unless I have an approximate number.

Also, in case CC is down again like it has been for these past frustrating days, we should have an alternative information site just for this meeting. I have an email address that I made if anyone wishes to stay in contact if something happens to the CC website again so we can stay in contact for this meeting:
