I am wondering if anyone has tried the Silverwood Mini pans that are being sold at Global Sugar Art. They carry them in round, squares and other shapes. I am curious as to whether the batter bakes evenly in the square mini pans.

I am interested in purchasing the square mini's which are 2"x2" each. It's quite pricey, so I was wondering what your experiences were with these pans. They are made in the UK, hence the hefty pricetag.

Here's a link with pics of these pans:

I can see somebody getting them if they do A LOT of minis...I couldn't warrant getting them myself. That is A LOT of money for just one use or 2.

But here is a bump for you so someone else can give you their opinion icon_smile.gif

I'm doing a wedding cake and mini cakes in June and am debating ordering the pan as well. Since it's SO expensive, I stopped in a local shop and found a similar pan called a "mini crumb cake pan". It holds 12 mini squares. It comes in round too and isn't muffin shaped. I haven't tried it yet but it was $26 instead of $150! If it doesn't work I may just have to break down and order that one or slice sheet cake into minis. We'll see...

I thought of doing the same - just cutting them down to size, but since these will be covered in fondant, I think it needs the heavier outer edges to retain it's shape and not buckle as much under the weight of the fondant. Please let me know how that works out. I am still very curious to see if how the Silverwood pans work.

Anyone?
