Guess who wants me to make a cake?
Sylvester Stallone! It's for his daughters birthday party. I couldn't believe it when I got the email asking me to do the cake.
I'm so nervous! I have no idea what to charge. I'm freaking out with excitement!
I wasn't going to be doing cakes for awhile as my brother had a stroke and I go to the hospital everyday to see him. But how could I turn this down?
I may have to stay up all night to do this but I said yes!
Joanne
Way to go, Joanne.
(If you're not contractually sworn to secrecy, can't wait to see the pics!)
Oh wow!
Are you delivering the cake or is he coming to pick it up?
What cake size, flavors, etc.? Can you tell I'm just a little bit excited for you? How cool!!
BTW, how is your brother doing? We'll keep him in our prayers.

Very Cool Joanne.......
How did he hear about you? Must have been a recommendation from a customer. Your cakes are creative and beautiful.

Of course I will post the photos. It's Tinker Bell themed. I'll find out more tomorrow.
My brother is doing a little bit better each day. Still pretty bad though and it's going to be a long time. He is paralized on his right side but he is fighting hard to get better. Thank you for asking.
Any prayers, well wishes or good thoughts would be wonderful. In fact, if anyone wants to send a card to him please PM me. I'm doing a card shower for him.
Thanks everyone!
Joanne
Anyone have any good ideas on what to do? I would love to see photos of some great Tinkerbell cakes.
Congratulations! That is really cool and a testament to your work. Now I know you are far beyond in skill and can go crazy with this cake, but I really like this stand up Tinkerbell a lady on the Wilton board did last year. I think Tink on top with a shower of stars and pixi dust touched layers would be cool for any little girl. Best of luck, I can't wait to see what you do!
So, so cool! I am so excited for YOU !!!
Enjoy the experience! I have a tinkerbell in my photos but you need something incredible! Search it and google it and I'm sure you will put some things together to make an awesome cake!!
Hi Joanne, that is soooo Coooooooooool!
I'm so Happy and Excited for you. I can't wait to see the pictures. You go girl!
By the way, hope that your brother get better soon. He will be in my prayers.
Good Luck!
Oh Good Lord! Aren't you just a bit freaked out by that prospect?! I would be! Good luck to you and I can't wait to see the cake. As for pricing, well, it depends what he wants doesn't it lol?!
You Go Girl! That is great. I would be freaking as well. Even though I don't have to worry about any celebrities contacting me about a cake anytime soon
You will do a fabulous cake I'm sure of it and hopefully more of the rich and famous will add you to their list of "contacts".
We definitely have to see pics. Keep us updated.
Congratulations! How exciting!
Just wanted to give a word of caution though. Since this is a celebrity cake, there are sure to be pictures of it in the magazines/tabloids, etc. That will be good for your business I'm sure, to get you more orders. However, if you do a Disney-type Tinkerbell, and Disney sees it, they have been know to go after the "little guy" and sue. Just wanted to alert you in case you did not already know. Maybe you can do something fairy-like and magical without using the actual Tinkerbell figure.
Or, maybe someone knows how you could get permission from Disney.
Have fun!!
Surely there is a way to contact Disney to find out...If there is a fee to use it, I'm sure it would be much less than the fine.
OMG... that is great !! Good luck and let us see the final result, and what his opinion is too!!
Wow! That is so cool. Congratulations! I made a Tinkerbell cake for my daughter and put Tink on top tier sitting in the middle of a flower made of fondant dusted with Luster Dust. I think there was a post in here somewhere that talked about how to get permission for using characters. I THINK if you cannot get permission, then you can tell your customer that they have to provide the licensed character themselves due to potential lawsuits. Maybe someone here on CC can better clarify because I'm not sure on the details. Good luck! I am so excited for you!!!
This is one that is posted on here by inspireddecorator........it is just to cute, I love the colors and one that I have in my favorites!!! You can do a tiered larger version if needed.

There are tons of tinkerbell toys that would be perfect for a topper.. and that way you won't get in trouble for selling a replica of a licensed character. Make the cake to coordinate with the theme.. color wise.. with lil'flowers.. stuff like that.. and use the toy tink.
Disney is not shy about telling people to not use their stuff (and going after them if they do) unless they have paid for the right. And the right to replicate a licensed character comes at a STEEP price. But using the toy is fine since you have already paid the royalties on it.
How cool is that though??!!?? Be sure to post the pictures.. Congrats on the high profile client!!
Ohhhh hoe exciting!! Maybe we'll see you i a magazine being followed by the paparazzi!
Congrats and this must be sooo exciting for you!!
I agree with the NO to Tinkerbell unless this is what was requested. Then I'd improvise with the design....let me tell you this, as I was almost sued by Disney.....as long as you change SOMETHING on it and PROVE that you drew it or handmade it, they can't sue. Even if it looks exact, they have to prove you COPIED it. Just a warning, but I would rather stay away from it.
As far as charging, charge what you normally do! Why would he be any different? I certainly would ask that if it is going to be made public, ask to have your name/website/bakery whatever to be known.
Sorry, I don't ooh and ahhh over movie stars. Like my mom used to say "they still put their pants on one leg at a time like us".
But congrats!! Please post the pic as this will truly be special for you!
