Has anyone ever used the cookies and cream candy bars and somehow made it a filling? If so how? If not what is a good recipe for one and will it taste okay layered in a white cake? I've never made a filling but really want either a cookie and cream or good choc. filling. Thanks for any help

I just made a CNC filling today, but not with those candy bars. Used a recipe in the recipes section on CC - it was just heavy cream, p. sugar, vanilla, and crushed oreos. It was good, but when I do it again, I will use more Oreos...or perhpas add a little cocoa into the cream while it's being whipped.

Catita74, I used the same recipe last week, and I thought it needed a little something. After letting it sit overnight in the fridge, I added about 1 cup of Dream Whip flavored buttercream and mixed it together really well. The result was AWESOME!!!! Tasted like I had just licked the inside of an Oreo cookie!

I use the Bettercreme and crushed oreo cookies and it holds up really well and is not really too sweet!

I also just add oreos to buttercream -- really tastes like the cookie filling!

Um...YUM. That sounds really good. I had thought about adding cream cheese too but wasn't sure what the fat would do to the whipped cream...

Jell-o has a Cookies and Cream instant pudding mix. Just whip it with 2 cups of whipping cream until it makes a mousse. Makes a great cake filling. Really good.

Thanks for all the responses, I went ahead and made the cookies and cream filling from here. It was really good, not sure if it was the filling or my frosting but it was super sweet. So now I'm trying to figure out what i need to do before my son's b-day. Anyone have any suggestions?? It's a white cake and white frosting, Im just not a big fan of buttercream. This is crisco, powdersugar, water and vanilla. It's simple but tastes great..

I love this filling, but IMO, the cookies and cream filling is a lot better with chocolate cake than white cake. You're right, it makes the white cake really sweet. I wonder about adding oreos to the cake batter too?? Maybe that would help with the sweetness of the white cake?

I second fiddlesticks and vote for the recipe from Whimsical Bakehouse (WBH). I just made it last weekend for my son's birthday party...It was FANTASTIC! I paired it with chocolate cake though...I think you were looking to fill a white cake. I think it would still taste yummie!
