Our staff lunch is a baseball theme this month. I want to make cupcakes that when together look like a baseball. I can't figure out how to get the round shape ( I keep coming up with a hexagon). I tried searching in the sketches gallery but I didn't see anything their either.

Any suggestions?

for round don't put them together like bowling pins -- that yields hexagon.

instead, start w/ 1 dead center. then rings of concentric circles -- the gaps will be bigger this way. (which just means more frosting to feast on!)

----

or if really want them tight...then do like bowling pins, accept that it's going to be a hexagon

and then make the hexagon bigger than the size of ball you want.

draw on the ball.

and make the extra space around the ball some appropriate color..

such as ---

blue w/ white clouds (it's flying through the sky)

grey w/ what looks like cracks (oops...took out another window!)

green grass (it's a grounder!)

or even brown -- like its resting the in the pocket of a glove.

This is what I did:
I bought a round clear plastic serving tray from the dollar store (it was about 12" or so wide) and then i started in the center and then kept building the circle outward until I had to cram some in to keep it tight. I then used another tray to make the top and bottom stiching. I hopefully have attached a pic to show you what I'm talking about icon_smile.gif
