Thanks for the tutorial. Though I do my bows with wire and couple up like a flower with florist tape(orange gift box in my pictures) this is another method I'll like to try out, thanks for sharing.

Love the cake! I actually had a request for a silver and purple--themed cake and I was at a loss for how to do it, and wow, you nailed it!

I am so glad that it was a help to so many people.
I still make bows the same way, but I do make some different sizes to fit in places a bit better.

for a fuller bow, I put the bow loops around an empty wrapping paper cylinder, it makes the loops rounder.
I cut notches in the opposite sides of a 10" tall box and several of the cylinders fits across the box , in the notches. I can hang the loops on to dry.

I'm half way done making the loops. Soooo much easier to do! I adjusted the length of the bows because I'm doing just a 6" cake.

I'll post a picture in a week or two.

Thanks so much-- I just love this place!

I have 2 questions. why do you use 50/50 gumpaste and fondant instead of just gumpaste and where did you find those long toothpicks?

Thanks
