Ok well I usually do not do the forums but tonight I just had too.

I am a newbie cake decorator and I was doing my first large cake (150 plus)

I tried the dream whip recipes and loved them and gave them my own twist...If anyone is daring I want to see if this works for everyone

2 boxs cake mix ( I use betty crocker vanilla)
8-9 eggs ( probably eight is best)
2 packages dream whip
1 package pudding (dry small box)
2 cups cold water
1/3 cup vegetable oil

It looks a little runny at first but you have to beat it for atleast 4 or five minutes.

I backed my cupcakes at 335 for about 12 minutes. The cake I did the same but could not give you an exact time I just "watch" mine

This cake is incredibly moist and spongy and wonderful I am dying to see if anyone will try it!

I'm willing to give this a go but will need to change to suit for smaller cake. I wish I had seen this a few hours ago as I just finished baking a cake for my hubby's bday (straight from the box).

When I get a chance to I'll give try it out and post back to let you know how it turned out.

When you look for the Dream Whip in supermarkets, look in your baking isle on the bottom shelf. It's usually not far from the Jello and flour. HTH

Does anyone know the Australian equivalent of Dream Whip?? I've never seen that here, but would love to try this recipe.

I too have never seen dream whip here. Just been to the shops and found
a powder that when liquid added it becomes cream??

Dream whip starts out as a small packet of dry powder you add milt to and whip. Been around in the US for a long time.

I can buy dream whip in Canada (which is nice since we can't get almost anything else I read about here on CC!). It's powdered whipped topping. You add milk and whip it to make a "cool Whip" type topping. So it comes in powder form in various sized boxes, depending on how much you want. Inside the box, the dream whip powder is inside smaller envelopes, so it stays fresh. I'll see if I can find a pic of the box.

Thanks tracey1970, what I saw in the shops here today, looks something similar. When mixed it also makes a whipped cream topping..

I would like to try this out when I next make frosting for a cake as I have
saved so many frosting recipes that call for Dream Whip in it.

Has anyone out there ever tried the store brand whipped topping mix as a substitute for Dream Whip? I bought some of the Kroger brand Whipped Topping Mix, but have not used it yet for cakes or icing.

I purchased it in ShopRite and they have it stacked on the bottom and the only reason I found it as quickly as I did was because another member (in another post) mentioned that it's usually on the bottom in supermarkets (most likely under the Jello).

I'm sure it depends on the demographics of the store and the marketing position of Kraft Foods in said area. Just don't assume this will be at eye-level, I believe only Jello brand has earned that enviable position. (This is in the US Northeast - don't know about the rest of the country or outside of the US).

When I use Dream Whip in icing (as per indydebi's recipe), it goes in dry, in its powder form. Not sure about this cake recipe, though. I would presume it is used in powder form??

Can't wait to try this recipe, but I would need it cut down.

If anyone tries it on a smaller scale please post results and how you did it.
