i think you've really got something here

Absolutely!!

I have friends who cringe when I show them a copper cookie cutter and tell them it cost me $15. It's copper, which is expensive, and will last me a lifetime. I love and collect all kinds of cookie cutters. I think it's becoming a lost art. (BTW, these same people pay $5 for a cup of coffee!)

I know what goes into making them and so do the other people on this board. And it's not just the cutters. We're paying for your knowledge and creativity. You've shared with us how you make the cookies. Now you're making it even easier by selling us the cutters so that we don't have to fashion our own. You should get paid!

I will make sure I get paid, but at the same time, without the support and encouragement of the people on this site, I never would've gone forward with this venture. And my interest (okay, obsession) in decorating cookies is directly tied to the creativity and flair shown in the thousands of cookies that you've all shared by posting in the gallery. You've inspired me tremendously, so I don't think it's unreasonable to give these kits to you at a rock-bottom price. I want to say thank-you.

I would like to be on the list too. And by the way $10 for 14 designs? Are you sure???

Congratulations on your innovative idea and the gumption to go for it.

well i certainly hope you're not putting them on the market for $10. your time and creativity are worth $$$ too. even wholesale i would think it would be more than $10.
are you going to take paypal or should we start making out our checks now?!?!?!

GeminiRJ, if I could make a suggestion (other than adding me to the list of interested persons...) it might be easiest for you to have everyone who is interested in this item PM you their personal email address, (or if they are nervous, they can set up a yahoo account just for this purpose! Hehehe) and you could put them all in a distribution list in your email now. Then, when the cutters are ready, you can send out one email to that list which will state that they are ready, what the price is, how to order, etc. Otherwise, if you get 200 interested people, you will have to send 200 PM's here. Plus, as you mentioned, you don't want anyone to give you poo-poo about 'marketing' here on CC. This way, you are totally taking it off the board so you can feel comfortable!!

The cookies in your avatar are just precious... I would totally buy a kit for those!! icon_wink.gif Awesome work! (But does it cost extra to get you to do the actual decorating? I don't think mine would look that good!) icon_lol.gif

*holding hand firmly over Kneada's mouth, despite her flailing*

Ten dollars seems fair!! I mean, for your friends here who helped you get started!! (But definitely jack up the price to the 'outsiders' hehehehehe. Teasing!)

Melvira, I've seen your work, and you could probably make my decorating skills seem childish! And that Yahoo account is extremely tempting and one I am going to have to seriously consider. As to retail price...I'm leaning towards $16.95 or thereabouts. It would keep them competitive with other 3D cookie cutter kits. Keep in mind, these cutters will be temper coated stainless steel. I think it's a cut above the plastic 3D cutters, personally, but definitely not high-end. I wanted to make them marketable to as many people as possible, and many new bakers would cringe at the more expensive materials.

Opps, my mistake! It's powder coated stainless steel! (Less labor intensive than to polish the steel).

$16.95 is still a steal! But I think it's fantastic that you want to keep it accessible to more people! Some people don't want to invest that much in tools, especially if they are a novice and not really interested in doing it too much.

And the day I match your cookie skills is the day I am actually hiring Nancy'sFancy to do the work and claiming it as my own! icon_wink.gif

Your cookies are adorable! I want to be on the list!!! And I think $16.95 is more than reasonable. I don't think anyone on here would cringe at that price...though offering it at a discounted rate is awfully nice too icon_biggrin.gif If you decide to go the email route, let us know so we can PM our email addy's to you!

Ohh, Nancy'sFancy! Like I have a prayer of ever being that good! Look at my cookies...it's just simple flood work and outlining. I drool over yankeegal's and kneadacookie's creations, too. Not to mention paulkjan's creative flair in arranging her cookie bouquets. So many artists on this site to offer inspiration!

Nancy is my hero!! When we first became friends I was so intimidated by her talent, but one thing I learned VERY quickly was that her personality is just as beautiful as her cookies, if not moreso. She is so giving and kind!

Oh, don't get me started on Kneadacookie either!! *WHACK!!* That's me smacking her with a spatula to try and splatter some of her talent on myself!! icon_lol.gificon_cry.gif (not to say the other's you mentioned aren't fantastic, I am just not *YET* familiar with their work. You can be sure I'll be looking 'em up!!)

My biggest problem with cookies is that the recipe that I think tastes good for the cookie itself spreads horribly, the non-spreading ones don't taste that good, and as for icing... royal makes me hurl. I like 'em with buttercream, but that leaves you with a product that is totally unpackagable. But man, does it taste good! icon_wink.gif

melvira...ouch!! i'm not exactly sure i'm as talented as i am anal about details. i drive everyone in my family crazy if that makes you feel any better.
thanks everyone for such nice words.
ok...let me rephrase myself before melvira sticks me in the closet..lol i think that $10 is a fabulous price(was that better) i personally think gemini should have a retail price also so that when i try to convince the local cake stores that they have to have them, that gemini is making a nice profit.
there...i hope i corrected myself, before the "family" black lists me...lol

I WANT you to!! You have no idea how badly I want to find something that works like royal icing, but is actually edible. I am praying for it!!! Help me Obi-Wan... you're my only hope!

OMG... I am now making Star Wars references in every day conversations. It's official, I've been with DH too long. It's time to run off with some hot air-headed guy. icon_rolleyes.gif Maybe after the baby....

I don't think I could get more excited than I am right now...the manufacturer emailed me and said the cutters should be ready in 12 days (I'm assuming that it's 12 working days) which puts them ready to ship around April 24th. He included photos of all the cutters, and they couldn't be more perfect! Woo-who!!
