I was just wondering if anyone can help me with directions or tips on making Sponge Bob and Patrick figures.
Thanks
Tina
It depends on what you want. I some times carve the figures and sometimes I do a frozen buttercream transfer, and sometimes I just pipe them on. Let me know which outcome you want and I'll help
I have made SpongeBob and friends out of fondant... I watched SpongeBob all day for inspiration! Actually had a blast creating them.. they are not perfect by any means but I do have a pic in my file. For SB I just made a rectangle then curved the edges in with my finger and rubbed it smooth. Everything else I just applied on with a dab of vodka. Squidward proved to be the most difficult to do. Oh I stuck lollipop sticks in them so they would stand on the cake. If you need to Pm me feel free!

Thanks for yout replies and offers to help. I am not 100% set on my design yet. I have seen several spongebob cakes on here that are a square spongebob that look "simple enough" (yet right) lol. But i also like the idea of a teir cake with an open theme with fondant spongebob and patrick. BUT fondant has not been my friend but tha was when i was trying to make flowers and such. FBC is not gonna happen lol i tried it... on blues clues it turned out OK but not great. This cake is for my nephew for this sat so i have alittle bit.
If i do the fondant figures do i need some time for them to dry???
Thank so much for your help
Tina
Hello every one, I am new in doing fondant cakes. I have done two but plain. This time I would like to add a figure to the cake and that is sponge bob and patric. IF any one could help me by telling me what is cornstarch good for? and Royal icig?
Hey Tina,
I did my spongebob out of modelling chocolate that I colored with gel colors. I was TERRIFIED of sculpting him, but it truly was much easier than I thought it would be. Just give it a whirl and see what you come up with.
I made a spongebob and patrick (in my photos, square blue cake then figures on it)
They were easier than I thought to make. I made spongebob and patrick both before hand and let them dry lying down. I make spongebobs legs seperatedly then I glued them to the cake and then sat his boby on top and put dried spaghetti through him from the head down and into the cake to stop him falling over then made his arms and attached.
Patrick I made main part of his boby then added shorts then legs, let him dry then stuck him to the front of cake, hth
