Your "undernoticed Cakes" Part Ii/continued

This cake was a replica from the "Pink Cake Box", I though I will get lots of comments on it, only got 3. Was really disappointed.

I worked really hard to cover the columns that held up this cake. The fondant animals were copied from the party theme supplies. I made this about a year ago, and I've learned a lot from CC since then....If I did this now, I would make sure the separator plate didn't show...but anyway, this cake was for my grandson's first birthday, and I worked hard on it and thought it would get a few more responses. Thanks for looking.

What's funny is I had mixed feelings about this cake: when I finished it, I was like "All right! That's just lovely!!" and then when I gave it to my friend (it was for her mom) she seemed disappointed - not that she thought it was bad but I think she wanted something more fun and festive and modern and not so traditional and old-lady-like (her mom turned 80). So then I decided I hated it and I didn't give a hoot that it kind of passed by unnoticed.
But now that I look at it again, I think it's kind of cute and is my 2nd cake to show the results of Antonia74's great method for smoothing IMBC.
Love it or hate it, here it is: http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1424132
I liked this cake in the beginning but in the end, I feel like it's not all that.

This is my most recent cake...I thought it came out nice. I did have some trouble with the fondant, but overall...I was pleased =)

all these cakes are so wonderful i think that a lot of cakes went under noticed because of the updates to the site. this is one that i recently did that i thought turned out pretty good but did not get a lot of views.

I have two. Both are very simple disigns. Maybe they're just to plain. The one listed below is a simple white GP orchid cake. The one that is attached is a GP poppy which I deleted because it barely got noticed.

I was so excited to post my 1st baby shower cake but once I did, it didn't get nearly the reaction I was hoping for. It was late night and during the upgrades...

These are also my current pride and joy.

The Black and White album shows that it has zero pictures in it for some reason
For anyone interested, the instructions for icing in IMBC using Antonia74's method can be found here: http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=404613&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=15
You need to scroll most of the way down page 2 of the thread, to her really big post, it's the one with a photograph of a white bench scraper on a red background. I used to try in vain to smooth my IMBC the "hot spatula" way but that is really a sub-par technique compared to Helen's method. The first time I tried it was this past December and it was easy and soooo nice, I couldn't believe it had taken me so long to actually try it! I'll never again use any other technique.
i guess i am a little confused...i too have posted many cakes that didnt get viewed as much as i had hoped...but if people dont want to click on them shouldnt that tell you something...? i just figured that they had seen the idea before and werent interested...and how many views is not enough....i noticed that these cakes have several photos posted also...dont we usually need one view with additional views in the provided space....i know when going thru the gallery if i see 5 pictures of the same cake i feel like it is being forced on me and wont click on it.....i have one or two or three that only have 117 views or so ....they are among my first cakes and i was just glad at the number that did view them.
the point of posting in this thread is to get feedback on a particular cake that we might actually want feedback on. Since the changes that have been made and all the glitches with the homepage, a LOT of people's cakes are going unnoticed. I've posted several cakes in the last month and I've gotten hardly any feedback. I don't want smoke blown up my butt, but I'd love some feedback.
I agree. Grandmaruth, this thread is not to complain about the general concept of "not getting enough views" in the galleries (there are other threads devoted to "why don't people cruise the galleries rather than just look at pics on the home page") but rather, it's kind of a support group for those of us who want to share specific "undernoticed" cakes with each other. We're not looking for the "why's" or ranting about "the injustice of it all!" --- we just want to pop a link in for others who might care to look. I don't think that's confusing at all
I do agree that many times cakes go "undernoticed" simply because they aren't interesting enough for someone to click the thumbnail, but that is not always the case. I have seen some absolutely amazing, jaw dropping cakes in the galleries that were barely seen at all. Sometimes it is just the luck of the draw based on when cakes were uploaded and whether or not the home page (or even the SITE!) was working properly that day. And some people don't care if they get 10 views or 1,000, and that is fine too! More power to ya!
That said, I totally agree that multiple uploads of the same cake completely ruins the gallery-browsing experience, but that's why there is a photo moderator who will eventually come in and delete those multiple uploads. That's also why they have that new great feature where you can nest your "additional angles" in with your main photo - so that your single gallery pic has alternate views if people go in to see your cake.
Personally I like this thread, as it is one single CC entity devoted to asking only interested parties to take a look at certain cakes - rather than the ones where someone starts a thread JUST to get people to look at a new cake pic. I am not saying the latter practice is right or wrong! But I mean, this is a pretty innocuous, thread and people who don't want to participate can easily bypass it with no effort.

I just became a Gallery Support Member so I am able to look at all of the cakes that are without comments. You would be shocked at how many are amazing but totally missed. There are some that must have been posted at 3am because there is no other explanation as to why they don't have many more comments or favorites. Add to that, the homepage had a few glitches that were just cleared up. Some of us have had several cakes posted during that time frame that never showed up.
So, in the spirit of things...here's my most recent. It had a lot of nice comments but I'm proud of it so I'll post it again. http://forum.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1420530
Well, I had my one year "cake anniversary" on my daughters 2nd birthday this past March, and since then have done a few cakes that I've been very proud of. Of course most were posted during the CC upgrades etc and went virtually unnoticed. Maybe they just weren't very good? I'm not sure. Either way, this one in particular is one of my favorites that I've ever done and I was SO proud. It was inspired by a Pink Cake Box picture sent by the customer. I changed some of the colors and added a few things. It was my first ever Topsy Turvy as well as flowers and I was pumped to get some feedback. Sadly, only 2 comments. Anyways, here it is! TFL and thank you everyone here on CC for being so helpful and supportive.

Yes I too am gallery supporter, and lately no matter how hard I work...it is still 12 pages lol.....I posted a pic yesterday that has over 100 views and 2 favorites and not one comment haha....but yet they will go posting on nonsense all the time which takes much more effort. lol go figure
Here is another cake, 13 favorites 256 views and no comments.

Just an FYI
The uncommented section will only show GSM 12 or less pages. But, there could be a lot more that you can't see. There are only a few select CC'ers (mods I think) that can truly see how many pages are really out there at any given time.
This cake 364 hits and is 11 favorites and only 3 comments (one is from me responding to a question).

What qualifies as under-noticed?
Here's one I was sad to see slide by unnoticed...

And here's one of my all time favorites. It got some attention but for what it is, I guess I thought it would get more. Maybe just because I'm in love with how it turned out...??? Oh well... http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1422001
http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1449642.html, this was my best work soo far, only 2 favs

I hope I posted that right, if not, it's the first guitar in my photos
So I figured I go ahead and post my picture. This is my first big cake but I was really proud of my fondant figures. http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-photo_1465232.html I hope you guys like it.
I stressed out so much over this cake and surprisingly enough it turned out just the wy I sketched it. I was also pretty gassed about how smooth the BC was. I guess it's undernoticed because not many people get the whole Army thing...
