I would like to know if anybody knows how to create a background using buttercream icing that would look like fire. I don't want to make defined flames, but if there is a technique to mix these colors in a decorating bag (or something) to get almost a marblized look. Can anybody help me out with this? I would appreciate any advice

Thanks!

I did this as defined flames with a star tip (Harley cake in my photos) but it could be done using a different tip, crusting BC and smoothed so it looks more like a background. I'd use a large round tip. I added orange to fill 3/4 of the bag and then yellow to fill the other 1/4. You could pipe that out, let it crust and then smooth it with a viva paper towel or parchment paper.

Another idea would be to do it as a BCT. Pipe the background onto waxed paper, freeze it and then turn it out onto your cake.

Another idea would be to frost the background in orange and then smooth on some thinned yellow icing kind of mixing it up a bit.
