Worst chirstmas gift....

Thread Starter
O.k. Now that the christmas season is pretty much over, (as well as this year), people are returning items.

Soooooo...... What was the worst christmas gift you recieved? I'm refering to this year of course but if you are one of those rare people that got all the cool stuff you wanted, you could post one from a previous year. A tacky neck tie, a gaudy table centerpiece, .... come on fess up.

On a flip side I'll start one for the best gift if it hasn't already been started.

This year my husband received a napkin and silverware caddy from my Aunt at our family gift exchange.

I was so mad. He's like a big kid at Christmas and that was sure a disappointment, especially since that was his only gift from the extended family (since it was an exchange). icon_sad.gif

Me, I got great gifts, but that has just irritated me for the last week.

Bath gel stuff from the person I gave it to last year. The very gift set. On the upside, it's stuff I like, hee hee.

One year, hubby's family (every single one of them mind you) gave me something I ALREADY OWNED!!! Shortly after that I called a family meeting and asked that instead of giving each other a bunch of useless gifts could we just pool the $$ and give to a charity of choice... That got shot down in a hurry!! icon_sad.gif

Not a single thing. No, I don't mean that I got everything I wanted. I didn't get a single, solitary gift. Not even a card. Blah.

Thank you! It's okay - Christmas is for the kids, well the gift part is. I enjoyed the Christmas music I played for a month. My favorite is Manneheim Steamroller's Veni Veni Emmanuel. SO PRETTY!

That sounds like my family! This year I wrapped up a Now Hiring sign from Target for my sister, and a 24pack of Arrowhead water bottles for my father. They open up those gifts first then we give them their real gifts.
And for the record, I know its you when you say its me.

I got a few choice gifts from the children in my class at school (I teach 10 year olds). I think the worst one was from a child who is incredibnly hard work, very badly behaved etc. His mum had bought for him to give to me a quarter bottle of wine - yes, a QUARTER bottle of wine!! It's just about enough for one glass. So after all that greif and time I spend with her son I'm worth not even one £3.00 bottle of wine. I think it's worse than not buying anything. The best presents from the children are things like a homemade card, a handmade friendship bracelet or string of beads, one child made me some rice crispie cakes. Bless icon_smile.gif

We tried the donating to charity thing this year. I liked it a lot but have already received an email from an in-law that we should go back to giving gifts. Guess she's not in the spirit of giving...she'd rather receive! Happy New Year to all!

I got from inlaws a nightgown, perfume that I will never use (I have like 5 bottles of perfume that I do like, what am I gonna do with perfume that I don't like?), a candle, and a knife set. The knife set would be fine if I didn't have 3 other sets of the same knifes. Hubs got me a 2007 cat calender and a red tea kettle. The tea kettle is fine since I had asked for one. The good gifts from him are coming cause he told me to order it since he doesn't understand cake talk so I ordered some net nails, the Hampshire Plastic Heart Kit, cake jacks, a magnet liquid mesurement conversion chart, a magnet dry measurement conversion conversion chart, and the mini educated cake pan (it's the one with the cubes and you can make numbers and letters with it).

My mom got me a wooden wall clock. i know, doesn't sound so bad...but what am I going to do with it. I don't have room to hand it and I'm just not into that type of thing. Last year she got me a quilt rack...great idea, except that I make quilts, I don't collect them!!!
