My sister in law is getting married soon and I've been trying to come up with some great favors. I thought it would be good to get your input since I've never seen a thread about this. I hope we can come up with a long list.

My best idea so far is to make cookies with edible images of the couple on them and a ribbon throught the top.

Here in my area lollipops made from the Wilton candy melts are very popular. The last two weddings I attended this year used the rose molds done in the wedding colors. Hope this helps.

My husband and I had coffe mugs personalized and filled them with Kisses. The mugs were white with a burgandy castle with our names and date and the kisses were wrapped in burgandy tuile and a bow. They were a big hit and looked beautiful!
My older brother and his wife did personalized wine labels on bottles of wine.
Hope I could help!

My girlfriend got married this summer and she made up a mixed disc of all of their favorite songs, then burned copies for the wedding favors. Actually quite cost effective if you can get the discs on a good deal.

When my husband and I got married, we did a spoon (colored to match wedding) and put hershey kisses in them, wrapped them with tulle and a ribbon. We attached a message that said our names and the date and saying "Here is a spoonful of kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs.!" icon_smile.gif

I was at one wedding where they passed out little candles with their names and wedding date on them. My brother and SIL's wedding had hershey kisses and hershey hugs in a little white toul (sp?) made baggie with a note saying "Hugs and kisses from the bride and groom" My DH's aunt had little silver frames at each place setting saying Thank you for being part of our day.
I just read last week on here where someone mentioned that they passed out Cocoa Cones at the wedding for the favor and it went over very well.

Cookie wedding favors always go over well.

One of the little giveaways I had at my wedding were packages of flowers in a cracker or bread basket by the guest book. I spray painted the basket white, glued some lace & pearls on & placed packages of seeds in it with labels printed with wedding bells & our names & the date. I also typed on the labels poems for the 2 different seeds. On Daisies it "He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, we tied the knot!" & on Forget Me Nots - "Just because we tied the knot, we hope that you forget me not!" A lot of people enjoyed them & they were maybe 10 cents a pack. My friend loved it so much, she used them for her daughter's wedding & had time to think of more sayings. One that I thought was pretty funny was "With this wedding we must cope, just because we can't Cantaloupe!"

I saw a darling favor the other day...one I had not seen before...

It wasa cookie cutter that was filled with chocolate (actually melted into the cutter) and decorated, wrapped in celophane with a pretty ribbon. The guest gets the chocolate and the cookie cutter.
My sister is not giving favors...she donating the money to charity instead and giving everyone a note with the jordan almonds. (Greeks traditionally give some kind of home item as boubounierres or favors)..

we did heart shaped cookie cutters that had a little paper attached with our name and wedding date and a recipe; crossword puzzle in the shape of a present (we were married in dec) with cute clues about us that were rolled like scrolls and sealed with a monogram sticker and the centerpieces were gift boxes in our weddign colors (chocolate and ivory)filled with cookies!!! That was before I knew about this site. They were still great. Our cake was stacked presents as well to tie the theme all together.

I really like the cd favors and the cookies with a picture too.

I'd say the best favors can be used, or used up. Cd's and mugs can be used, as well as the flowers, etc. Food items can be used up, so can the flower seeds. Stay away from knicknacks or anything that will just collect dust.

The jars of candies that guests fill themselves are in, cd's are always good, and the almonds are classic but I won't give anything I wouldn't enjoy. For a winter wedding, cocoa cones with dipped spoons are great, flower seeds were a wonderful idea for spring. We are planning a beach wedding, so are going with favors that reflect that. With the wind and water and bugs, our favors must be sealed if they are food, and not chocolate due to the temperture, so there are things to consider.

What is/are the date, theme, colors? That could make a difference as to what would be best.

For my wedding I ordered a case of roses from Sams (200 for $70). Half the roses were used in vases. For the other half I ordered water tubes from a florist supply website. We put the roses in the water tubes and then slid them into a pretty blue drawstring bag (also very inexpensive...ordered online). So each guest had a beautiful rose lying at their place that they could take home. It made the tables very pretty. I also had a bag of cookies at each place. One friend who's a huge fan of my baking managed to round up all the extra cookie bags. I have a picture of him with his arms full! icon_biggrin.gif

I also like things that can be used as opposed to statuettes and knick-nacks and those sort of things.

For our Engagement party we gave out sets of two lead crystal candle stick holders. They were in little shopping bags and each one had a personalized ribbon wrapped around it with our names and date of the party printed. For our wedding we went to the Mikasa outlet in New Jersey (while we were still living in Brooklyn) and purchased 3"x5" crystal picture frames. I love when I see how some people are still using them and we'll be married 14 years this May.

The ones that I don't care for and that I've heard many others stay away from are the candy dishes and little candles. Some other nice ones I've received (and given for communions, baptisms, etc.) are espresso or cappuccino sets and I also received a cute vase at one wedding.
