I just found out my SIL who lives in Berlin is expecting her first baby. I'd love to surprise her with one of my cakes, but since I obviously can't send her one from Ohio to Berlin, I was wondering if I could "hire" a fellow CCer in Berlin to do it for me. I have a picture of what I'd love to send her that I will share if someone can do it or point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Hi,

I wish I could help you, but unfortunately I´m 3 hours away from Berlin icon_sad.gif . I don´t think that CC has a member in Berlin and the only bakery I know who could do a cake in US/UK style is very expensive (starts around 12 US $ p.p icon_eek.gif ).

Hope you will find a way to surprise her!

have you thought about making a cake covered in fondant??? i shipped one from New Jersey to Ohio I don't see why it would make a difference if it went to Berlin (unless there are some laws on shipping baked goods there)......fondant ships very nicely depending on the design of the cake!! Here is the cake I shipped...granted it wasn't a REALLY detailed cake or anything but it was in perfect condition when it arrived!! If I were you I'd create a cake based around what will ship well.....you can always mold things out of fondant and ship them separately and let your sis put em' on the cake!

I mean you could probably send a tiered cake individually wrapped with instructions for her on how to assemble it. Worth a shot right??
