HI

I've been asked to do a scottish theme cake for 1st january 2007 for a 50th male birthday not sure what to do was thinking of a kilt but would like any idea's on how to get this affect cost affectively - please help[/b]

I did a bagpipe cake for my dad's birthday. I got the idea from antonia74. Her's is much better than mine so I'll attach that link.

How many people does the cake need to serve?
grama_j did a great job on getting those plaid cakes!
A kilt would be a great idea, I'm trying to figure out how you would accomplish that. You could do a tartan blanket out of fondant draped over a cake, when you said cost effectivly what exactly do you mean?

You can do a sheet cake with a Thistle design on the top, maybe a FBCT.

I had to make a Scottish themed cake a couple of months ago and they wanted the Loch Ness monster on it! It was alot of fun to make!
