I love roses, especially pink. I saw a cake in one of the Wilton books with roses all over the top of the cake, so I thought I would try it. The only problem I had was that the roses on the edge of the cake started falling off and the ones in the middle started to sink!

It's one of my favorite pictures of my cakes and I love having it as my avatar. icon_smile.gif

cariage,
So sorry for your loss of your grandmother. I can definately relate. I lost my grandmother in July and it is still very sad. We were very close. It does get easier. I truly believe that time does heal.

I've not heard of an avatar until CC. I haven't gotten around to figuring out how to do it.

Go to the first page of this thread, I posted directions on how to upload your Avatar!

My current avatar is the pink wedding shower cake I made for my new DIL. I wanted to make the ultimate girly pink cake for her because I knew she would love that and it was sort of a picture celebration of their upcoming marriage. (was on Oct 13)

My former avatar was a pair of FairIsle socks I designed and knitted (my former passion) ...so many people pm'd me to see if it was a cake.. icon_lol.gif

I think I will change my avatar again to the wedding cake I made for my son and new DIL..

Interesting thread!!

I'm new to CC and I absolutely love it. Always on it and my husband doesn't understand.

Well anyway, my avatar is of my son. I love this picture. It was taken by my BIL while on vacation in Gatlinburg. He was upstairs at our cabin looking out the the window.

I've often wondered about the avatars. Thank Jibbies!

Mine is our 8 year old beloved Hannah. We've had her since she was 4 months old. I used to work with a lady who was into animal rescue and she was always trying to talk everyone into getting a pet. I've never been a dog person but I told her if she could find a blood hound, I would get one - maybe. I came to work one day and a newspaper was on my desk with an ad for blood hounds at the animal shelter. I called my husband and he went to check them out. He called back and said they had 2 males and a female. I told him to get the female. Two days later I went to pick her up and she was NOT a blood hound. She was so cute, she had my heart in an instant. I took her home in a crate and she was sooo scared she wouldn't come out for 3 hours. Now, I couldn't imagine life without her. Never thought my husband & I would be calling ourselves mama and daddy to a dog.

My avatar is my soon to be nine year old puppy "Bubba Alexander" as my son calls him. This was taken at my son's birthday several months ago. I think the dog enjoyed wearing the hat. He is our "warning" dog that our son is going to have a seizure--he nudges and gently pushes on him and is very vocal to us. I don't know what I would do with out him--or my son for that matter!

This is such a cool thread! Thanks Jibbies for doing this.

My avatar was of Tinkerbell - I always liked Tinkerbell ever since I saw Peter Pan when I was little...moving on...

My avatar now is of a fancy-looking cake with legs and wearing high-heeled shoes (yes, you saw that right). It's my logo or will be when I have my very own bakery someday. I made this logo with the thought that cake is fashionable, hence my tag line "fashion should be a piece of cake". icon_lol.gif

Somewhere in my pile of stuff, I have a picture of a Mario cake pan cake that I decorated--- before I had a clue about cake decorating!! My son loved it and that is what counts. AND yesterday I stumbled on a realllllly bad one (if I ever get my scanner to work-- it would go under the WORST cakes ever thread!! icon_lol.gif ) -- It was a cake my son and I made together, sprinkle icing, and cut out pics of Mario from magazines on it. What an ugly cake! But my son was THRILLED and his friends thought it was really cool too.

And hey, Send us a cake anytime icon_biggrin.gif

Mine is my final cake from the Wilton III class. I think it is my best cake yet and it was my first cake to make it into the Most Popular Cakes Added Today category. I was thrilled and now I'm aiming for that top row.

Mine is of my little 6lb maltese/pom, Pebbles. I had wanted a dog for about 4 yrs., but my dh wouldn't hear of it. However, when we went to "just look" at some puppies, he couldn't resist either. She was my birthday present to myself 2yrs ago. Since we haven't been able to have kids yet, she's very precious to us both. Her fur is even longer now. I'll have to make an updated atavar.

great thread jibbies thumbs_up.gif

as you can see I don't have an avatar . . . due to the fact that the one I wanted wouldn't work that small . . . so I used it as my signature line instead (you could say . . . I have my cake and eat it too . . . that's what it's all about, right???)

I'm relatively new here . . . and had found this site when my son and his (now) wife had asked me to make their wedding cake for them (I needed inspiration and was lucky enough to stumble on to this site). The only thing I had to go on at the time was that they were releasing "butterflies" as part of the ceremony . . . I have always been partial to dragonflies, so when I had to come up with a name "dragonfly dreams" seemed like a natural (since I had butterflies on the brain) icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Thank you so much for starting this thread, jibbies! I wonder every time I read a thread about everybody's avatars - it's great to hear the background stories!

Mine is of my 3 grandbabies. My daughter is a photographer, so she's always taking great pics of them, but this one is my absolute favorite (so far!). It shows how loving and playful they are together! Btw, I'm "nana" to them and in my real life I co-own a home maintenance & remodel company called "Lady Fix-It" - hence my screen name. I don't actually "fix" anything (except the occasional cake disaster!).

My avatar was a picture of Tinkerbell... but after jibbies told how to shrink pics, I changed it to a pic of my DD, Cheyenne, dressed as Tink. I picked Tink because she loves her. I don't know if you can tell, but she's sitting in her room that is floor to ceiling Tink.

It makes me SMILE icon_biggrin.gif , hope you smile too.

Well, you know who mine is. I've loved anything Snoopy all of my life. I like him best at his typewriter because I was a writer/editor when I was working. My screen name also has a Snoopy connection...Miss Helen Sweetstory is the author of the Bunny-Wunny books and Snoopy's favorite author!
