Cream Cheese Icing, Smoothing?

i have made a really great cream cheese icing but i need some help with makeing it smooth, t doesnt seem to crust so will the paper towel method work? it also seems very thin and creamy how can i layer it? also will the thin consistancy make it har to to a shell border and othe things similar?

Dont' know that you want to or have time, but here is a recipe for a crusting cream cheese. If you used regular I don't believe there is a way. You could try putting it in the fridge until firm & using a paper towel.
