I have all of Colette Peters books, but not this one. It's out of print and I can't get a copy from ebay. Does anyone have this book? Is it worth my searching or is it not too hot? Would love to know what she's got in it - it's like my holy grail!

Emma

I seen one on ebay.com yesterday..don't know if you're interested in getting it from the US though.

I don't have it so can't tell you what's in it.

I didn't even know she had a Christmas book. I only have her Birthday Cakes. If you find it, let us know what it is like.

Are looking for something in the book. I have her first christmas book and the one she printed a few years back. They both contain all most the same things. I know a few weeks ago I saw it on E-bay. I know her first book goes on ebay between $40 to $65 last christmas, the highest I seen it get sold for was $100. I may be selling one of the books not sure which one I am going to put on e-bay but if you are looking for something I can scan it for you.

here is the first book on e-bay but she is only shipping in the US, you can e-mail to see if she will ship to you.

I have both of the ones that I am aware of - one has a Christmas cake on the cover and the other has chocolate truffles. One I purchased on eBay for $90, and the other I found from an online antique bookstore for about the same price. Both are rare and hard to find - if you collect like I do, though, you just have to be diligent in your search. If there is something in particular you are looking for, I'd be glad to help.

I know this is a bit late, but I have it and I LOVE it!!! I got mine from amazon-wasn't easy and I think I got the only reasonably priced one in existance. Mine has the cake on the front, old library copy, but it has sugar ornaments that people in the States just don't seem to do for some reason... I love them. Anywho, It also has a holiday gazebo and a botanical garden done in RI, very pretty. There is a person selling on amazon that has copies of all the pictures, unfortunately, I don't remember which one. So, if you're still looking, I think you should do it, I just love mine.

It's a great book; beautiful pictures and wonderful ideas. I bought it years ago, when it was still in print, and even got Colette to sign it. I treasure it, needless to say. In fact, she signed all my books. But that book is going for a lot of money today, and getting harder and harder to find.. good luck....

Funny Emma, when I saw the topic up on the front page it was the term "holy grail" that popped in my mind. Made me smile when I saw that is exactly how you described the book too.

I would love to see a copy, have heard from people that it is great but never seen it myself.

I did a Colette Peters class when the class asked her about why it is not in print anymore. She said people are always asking her about it and they are surprised that it would be out of print. Apparently it has something to do with her publishing house not thinking it would be worth putting back into print!?! She urged all of us to contact her publishing house to ask for it to be put into print again. She seemed sad herself that it was not available anymore.

Is there an antiquarian around where you live, they may be able to get a hold of a copy for you. You may have more luck in England getting it cheaper than the US, maybe people do not realise that it is a bit of a treasure. Good luck with it anyway.

Patience, Grasshopper!!

I had a similar dilemma about 6 months ago, wanting to buy it as a birthday gift for a friend.

Finally got it via Ebay, after lodging a "favourite search" - this allows an automatic search on keywords for up to 12 months.

I was lucky enough to get an excellent copy for a reasonable price - they are often listed at US$100 or more.

Got to admit - after all that, I kept it for myself! icon_redface.gificon_rolleyes.gificon_wink.gif
