for your viewing pleasure.
Here are I think 3 of the 6 I'm trying to have done for January, while also having Christmas with relatives here for 2 weeks, a party for 30 on Friday, AND my dd's b-day on 12/30. ack
These have been a BLAST TO MAKE. See what you think. Hopefully I won't feel like a fish out of water in over my head at this event!!
I have a pink and brown beauty on my counter right now waiting on some finish work, and an uncovered 4 tier waiting for me to start...nowhere to cook! lol
Thanks for looking!
They look great, how do you get the dummies to stay still while you decorate?
I bought a set in October but have only tried it once because I got so frustrated.
Any hepl would be much appreciated.

So pretty! You will do great!
Ash-try putting non-skid material (found in the shelf liner section at wal-mart) under your dummies
Your cakes are beautiful....
Please let us know the results, regardless.
I'm sure you will do fine.
They are very elegant and beautiful.
I esp. like the top the the very buttom.
But they are all done very nicely.
Thanks everyone--I wish I were a better photog...
Ashley--I got mine to sit still by sticking that yellow sticky putty from somewhere like Walmart under them to hold them.
I also discovered that you can stack and ice non-fondant cakes all in one big stack (saves a ton of time and icing!)--I "glue" all the layers together and to the base with corn syrup, let that set up so they won't shift, then ice the whole stack top to bottom, smoothing with a bench scraper as I go--I did the red bianca cake that way and a round one too.
I was chuckling to myself about my new little shortcut, when DH said "why don't you do real cakes like that?"
...I explained that I *could*, but if I did, there wouldn't be any icing between the cake tiers, LOL--but it was a good idea. Dear man...
Wow, they're all so beautiful.
Can you tell me where you get cake dummies? Sometimes I want to practice but don't want to make the cakes, this would be a great thing for me.
Good luck and let us know how everything goes.
Alex
they are very pretty cakes. Sure to get attention, your bow is very attractive!
I have to do mine next week, I have been procrastinating... our bridal fair is in February.

Could I ask a technique question -- on the Tiffany present cake, how do you do the "box top" part?
just a thought have you thought about fondant on your boards and some ribbon around the edge for a nice clean finish. Beautiful cakes you'll do well.
i think your cakes are fabulous, i just love them, great job!!!!
about the photography part, try turning your flash off, i noticed that i get a glare on my cakes with it.
Thanks guys! Can't believe this is still floating around tonight.
I have thought of fondant on the boards, but I was being...cheap. Pathetic, I know. I may add ribbon still.
My last two are my Biggees, so they'll get the full deal with fondant or royal on the boards. DH hates that "tin foil" stuff...
I get the dummies through my local store but you can find them online. Google cake dummies or foam cakes.
The box edges on the Tiffany cake were just strips of fondant rolled out and cut to like 1" wide, then attached to the cake with water. Pretty easy but probably a better technique exists.
They're for a bridal festival coming up, just as display cakes. Can't wait to show you guys the last 3...probably after Christmas.
G'night
Wow! I just had a chance to look at your cakes and are they Gorgous!! You do FANTASTIC work!!!
