I am hoping that you can give me some pointers as to how to introduce myself to local restaurants in hopes of them reselling my cakes, etc. I am networking with wedding planners and photographers by offering THEM sample cakes and coupons for their advertising WITH me. In turn, they refer their brides to me for a discount off of their wedding cake. I've been taking sample cakes to local businesses, with a good amount of success. Also, I'm working with local bowling centers and various other childrens' party sites in hopes of them having ME do the cakes for the parties they have booked. Any other suggestions? Is there anything else that I can be doing? Thanks to each of you in advance!!!

Are there any family owned, locally owned restaurants that you frequent and like that you would like to see your cakes in? If so, I would start there. I would start just by talking to management about their dessert situation and go from there. That is what I plan on doing once I'm legal. There are lots of mom and pop operations that don't want the overhead of desserts, etc. and you might be just what they are looking for . . but don't know it yet!
Good luck!

Where are your guy located?
I live in Ga.

That is what I want to do in about 3-4 years.
(I want to build up my 401k before I quit this job and open my bake shop)

I am interested in learning as much from your experiences as possible.
I want to make a comm. kitchen at home
( if I can with the zoneing and other stuff, a little too early to look into that )

What do you think?
I'll take all the advice I can get icon_wink.gif

I think those are definitely some good starts. Marketing through direct mail has the least amount of "noise" so I think it would be great if you send out postcards with mouth-watering pictures and information about your business.

I think this place has some good deals http://www.gfxinc.com/post_card_printing.html

Hey Marie,

You should join our Georgia Cake Club. The girls are really nice and we're in the process of scheduling monthly(ish) gatherings to get to know each other.
