I just got home from one of the worst experiences of my life. I took a cake that was a very last minute order to the lady who ordered it. She didn't care what style but wanted the smallest sheetcake I had. So I had to make it in my 8 x 12 because I couldn't find my 7 x 11 icon_sad.gif . (I didn't charge her for my mistake). I decided that I'd do a bow in GP because they dry fast. The only thing she did want was chocolate. I got to the door.....she hurried me in...looked at the cake and took it from me...yelled for her DH to come and look then THREW the cake on the table...cracking the bow because it jumped up icon_sad.gif . She told me that was the most amateur looking cake she had ever seen and she was NOT paying me for a POOPY (not what she said) looking cake. Her DH looked at me while my eyes filled up with tears....I turned...left the cake and took no money....now what do I do but cry? The GAWD awful cake is in my pictures but I am seriously thinking about removing it.

Thanks for listening

Christi

OMG! The problem was hers not yours tonight! That cake is very very cute! Much better than anything she would have gotten anywhere else! The writing is nice too! She was obviously having a bad day and took it out on you and your cake! Sorry this happened to you!

edited to add: Please don't delete it from your pics!!

I'm just sick after reading your post. I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that lunatic. My DH and DD agree that it's an adorable cake (especially for last minute!!!). What is WRONG with this world that people think it's O.K. to be so awful??? I'm sorry, and I hope that nothing like this ever happens to you again!!

Oh H*** no! That cake is adorable. There's absolutely nothing wrong or amateurish about it - it's smooth, the writing is cool, the bow is AWESOME. It was seriously HER problem and NOT yours! She's CRAZY.

CRAZY.

Don't remove it and forget about her!

There was nothing wrong with your cake. Even if she did hate it she should not have treated you that way! She was wrong! That just makes me boil. It amazes me how people think it's okay to treat others badly. Big hug to you, you hold your head high and leave that photo right where it is! thumbs_up.gif

Ok I can't hold this in after the day I've had Christi girl that ***** has problems! She's freakin psycho if she thinks that's a ***** cake. I'd mail her an invoice or mail it to her husband tell her she was under a verbal contract and she received her cake and she needs to pay for it. If she doesn't let it slide this last time. And from now on, no more last minute orders unless paid in full BEFORE you turn on the oven or buy any ingredients.

I love it! I think it's beautiful! icon_biggrin.gif

Wow...if that's an amateur looking cake she must be getting some pretty exceptional cakes somewhere! I have to tell you that that cake looks very very nice to me. It is well done and it looks to me like you put plenty of time and thought into it.....it's hard to believe it was a last minute order. Can you make beautiful bows and flowers like that at the last minute? icon_wink.gif You are talented.

It is a very nice cake. It deserved better than to be broken by some crabby lady who can't appreciate something great when she sees it. I bet she ate it. I am appalled that she treated you so poorly and it amazes me that, while she had no specifics except chocolate, she felt compelled to criticize what you had so thoughtfully created for her on short notice.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL CAKE! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif Please smile and try to feel pride here because you should...truly.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that cake and I am being completely honest! How awful of her to do that to you! What did her husband do/say??

I would have picked up the cake and walked out and left her with nothing! If she couldn't at least pay you for the ingredients and your time. What a B(*^#&*^@)(ch!

Who is this person? Do you have to see her daily or a relative?

OMG - this for some reason has peeved me! icon_mad.gif

What a horrible thing to do! There's really no excuse for her behavior. Please write her off as one of those loonies running around that you had the misfortune to run across. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the cake, BTW. Don't remove it!

That lady must be a crack addict and hasn't had any today. I thought the cake was cute. If someone had ordered one form me at he alst minute she would NOT have gotten a gumpaste bow that is for sure!!!

She should be ashamed of herself and just know that the universe has a way of cosmically fixing itself and she has hers coming!!!

Put her name on a black ball list for sure.

When she threw the cake it scared me...I was scared to go any further...I wanted to run...but turned and walked away...as I was walking I was crying...not to where they could hear me...I think the husband was upset at her though...I mean she literally threw the cake on the table...I had the box lid propped open so as not to smoosh the bow down into the cake...I seen the cake hit...the bow jump up and I knew the whole top had to be ruined. I came home in tears and DH is furious. But I am breathing NOW...and I will let it go but not another last minute cake again! I wish I would of just said NO NO NO in the first place.

Don't ever let someone do that to you again! What a nasty witch. icon_sad.gif

Next time someone is even remotely rude or dismissive about the product that they receive or goes so low as to make personal remarks about your abilities...

...pick up the cake and tell them if they don't want it, there is a shelter nearby that would be so thankful to receive it and walk out on HER! thumbs_up.gif

Your cake was fine. But this will happen again if you continue to leave cake with anybody that's crass enough to be that nasty. She'll tell all of her nasty friends... "Guess what! I figured out how to get free cake. All you have to do is..." And you know the rest of the story. icon_twisted.gif

We all need shirts that on the front say, "Don't like it? Then,." On the back they'd say, "NO CAKE FOR YOU!!" I swear we wouldn't have half the problems.

Chin up and don't listen to the witch with a "b." Continue to make cakes because you like to and you're good at it, not because some crass in-duh-vidual doesn't know a good cake when she sees one.

I think that you're cake is very cute and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! I hope that this never happens to you again (or anyone else!) I know hindsight is 20/20 but I would walk out WITH my cake or at least drop it on the floor for her to clean up (that just came out OPPS - but it would be great). Even if you were not happy with the way it turned out I bet it still tasted amazing.

I too am sick to my stomach after reading your post - I looked ast the cake and it doesn't look poopy at all! It was VERY nice and smooth and seriously, you did a very good job! I do wish you would have taken the cake with you, she didn't deserve it if she was going to treat it that way and you deserved to be compensated for all you have been through. Please, send her a bill - you can't let people walk on you like that! Keep us posted!

The lady obviously had something very specific in mind, despite saying the opposite to you when she ordered from you. Why else would she have such a freak-out at a very nicely decorated cake which does not at all look amateurish. Your cake is perfectly well put together, it is smooth, your writing is very nice and your bow is beautiful.

So the only explanation must be that she had a 3-tier cake with handmade gumpaste flowers and pure gold decorations in mind when she ordered - which she of course expected for no money at all.

I understand you are upset but relax, you did nothing wrong at all. I expect you will receive an apology very soon from them, the lady is probably feeling like a complete idiot now. But under no circumstance take orders from her again, she does not deserve you, and certainly did not deserve a free cake today.
