Hi,

I am new to the cake decorating business. Just completed Wilton Course 2!! icon_lol.gif

I have some friends and family members requesting cakes..and they will pay!! Does anyone have a standard order form that I can use that has all the info I need to have to make the cake they want?

Thanks!!

There is a nice one posted in the templates section of the gallery. For birthday cakes and such, I just buy the 2-part generic order form books at Office Max. In the first column, meant for part numbers, I write:
FEED
FLAVOR
FILL
FROST

The feed heading is for the number of servings required. Flavor, is for the cake. Fill and Frost are self-explanatory. Then at the bottom I write down details like specific designs or colors requested. Also, any direct quotes that will be written on the cake like "Happy 21st Birthday Sara" And ALWAYS double check name spellings!!! In this day and age, everyone has some funky way of spelling even the simplest names.

Other info that you need to fill in (I do it at the top where it says 'ship date, ship to, etc) is the date that the cake is needed, whether or not you will deliver or if the customer is picking it up, and the delivery or pick up time.

As you do more orders, you will be able to decide if you need more information on your forms, but this will give you a good starting point.

(EDITED TO ADD: I buy the Avery 1x4" labels and print my business logo on them. They fit perfectly at the top of the generic forms. That way when I give the customer the top copy, they have all of my contact info.)

Congrats and good luck!

Happy Baking,
Beth

Not to be the "bad guy"....

But I wanted to let you know, you have to check with your state before you start selling cakes.

There are HEFTY fines for selling cakes with out a health inspected kitchen or a business lisence.

They don't usually tell you those things in the Wilton Courses. icon_smile.gif
