Hi. This is what I use for a single recipe...but you can double it if you need to.
1 stick butter
1/2 cup crisco
1 box sifted sugar
3/4 cup cocoa
2 teaspoons mexican vanilla
4-5 tablespoons half and half
This recipe tastes really good and has always given me a nice brown color. If you want it darker you can add brown icing color. I think the half and half makes it more creamy and makes frosting the cake easier. Nobody has ever told me that they did not like this one! Hope that helps! icon_smile.gif

This makes 6 cups of icing

1 lb bag of powdered sugar
2 stick butter
1 tsp salt
1/2 to 1 cup milk
2 tsp vanilla (I olny use mexico vanilla)
1 cup cocoa

cream sugar and butter together first then add all the rest of the ingredients.

I have added 2 to 3 tbsp instant coffee to this too. It gives it a real good flavor. Start out with 1 tbsp at a time and taste. Some might think 2 to 3 tbsp is too much. But I love coffee.
