Ok I've been asked to make this cake (have posted this elsewhere but no one has visited said forum and replied so I figured I'd post to the public forums) it consists of two 12 inch heart shaped pans, a both pieces of the Wilton sports ball pan. The heart cakes will have approx 2 inches chopped off the bottom point of them and then be placed together.

I was trying to figure out pricing for this by the piece and can't figure it out icon_sad.gif. I don't know the serving amounts for either cake (12" heart and sports ball halves) so I can't figure it up like that icon_sad.gif.

This would definatly be for a party so party sized pieces maybe 2x2's or slightly larger but priced as 2x2's or maybe 3x2's if doable...

Does anyone know the serving amounts on the 12" heart and the HALF of the sports ball pan?

My mother said $75.~ and no more! for the last cake I made (NOT in my photos icon_wink.gif) but hubby said no it has to be more then that because in reality it is 4 cakes in one and 4 batches of buttercream icing to ice it all with only a 12" decorating bag full left over lol. This cake will be all buttercream with a bottom boarder at the cake board and will have a small amount of writing on it like Happy Birthday Heather or something like that.... I think the main one I need to hear from is Risque but not sure if she has checked the other forum in a while lol....

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! lol

TIA yall!
Becky

One 12inch heart cake serves 40 according to Earlene's. I made a 9 inch heart which she says serves 18 and they got 20 servings from it. I'm not sure how to serve a sports ball (even in halves) I guess just wedges, so I would say 6-8 servings per half. Which means that the cake you're looking at making should serve 90-100 servings! If it's just buttercream and cake, you could probably charge a dollar per serving and then go up from there...

Thanks for you help and input and tracking down those serving amounts for me icon_smile.gif

Anyone else with some pricing input?

I had stated to her when we discussed her ordering one that it'd be around $200.~ :O but was mainly saying that because I don't really like this girl lol bad of me I'm sorry but I don't for some reason. But I gave her that price thinking she'd say ok never mind I don't want THAT cake maybe another one slightly smaller and cheaper and I wouldn't have to devote so much time to someone I don't care too much for lol.... But she's willing to pay $200.~ to $250.~ for it!!! NO PROBLEM!!! I'm like umm Ok well blah blah blah lol.....

So now I figured I'd better come here and get some input on pricing it out incase more people want to purchase it I can charge them a little more accurate price lol or I can at least explain to her why it's $200-$250 for the cake if it actually does come out to that price lol.

I get that cake as serving 80 party size pieces (1.5 x 2 x 4in), or if she insists on serving 2x2x4in pieces, then 55 servings. Either way, $200 is about what I'd charge!

According to Collette Peters 12" heart serves 35. Not sure about a sportsball but we're already at $105 for just the heart at $3 a slice. Maybe $200 isn't so far fetched.
