Hi
Decided to be adventurous and make some christmas cookies using the well renowned NFSC recipe I keep hearing lots about.... BUT... when I added all the ingredients (halved the recipe cuz I don't want to make THAT many cookies straight up!)... and when I finished adding the flour it was a dry crumbly mess!! what did I do wrong? I halved it exactly... in the end I added some water to bind it - probably should have used an egg but I haven't made cookies before and just wanted it to stick together!... It's rollable now, and in the fridge cooling for me to cut up... in the meantime... anyone able to tell me what I did wrong???

TIA

By dry crumbly mess do you mean that it was like a pie dough mixture? It will be like that at the start but after you roll it out and refrigerate it will come together. Do you mix it by hand or in a mixer? It could be that it was not mixed thoroughly.
Don't know if any of this is of help to you.
