Little Tier Cake With Starburst Roses

I made this little cake using the 3, 4, and 5 inch cake pans. I had some leftover starburst roses from a cake I did last week, so I thought this would be a fun way to use them up. I really wish I would have made time to do this in fondant. Frosting and smoothing with buttercream is impossible on these tiny things. I just went ahead and spiked it up as I was getting so frustrated. Any tips on smoothing buttercream on these little devils would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. (The pop can is used to show actual size)
What a sweet little cake...love your starburst roses and the tiny cake is cute as can be..super job!!
What a cute cake! I love the size of it, just right for a granddaughter and grandma tea party!
It would be perfect for a Grandma and Granddaughter tea party! I took it to my mom's house today, and my sister and brother were both visiting as well. That yummy little cake served up the four of us perfectly! Thanks for your kind words.
Your cake is darling. I, too, have problems smoothing the icing on the mini. I didn't think of spiking it. I just gave up and quit using buttercream.
too cute! I have a hard time with the mini-cakes, too. My mini-wedding cake in my photos was a 8/6/4 and the top was SOOO hard to make smooth. It was just way too light to push on.
the cake looks great I think having a small cake liket that looks great with the spike look.
