Customer saw the horse cake that I did on last weekend and decided that I had to do her daughter's 1st B-Day cake. I agreed and asked what is the theme? She said my little one loves to watch Mickey Mouse Club House and that's what kind of cake we want. Thats when I knew I was in big trouble...because I don't even know what that is and I can't find a clear picture of it. icon_cry.gif

whole cake on an oval base of 3/4 plywood so can attach a dowel w/ glue and screw (see diagram) to make the support for the head.

-----

base under head....cake (depending upon size needed -- 1/2 sports ball, or soccer ball or in a big pyrex or stainless steel bowl)

-----

the head: bottom half -- a 1/2 of a styrofoam ball glued to a thin piece of hardboard (masonite) or plywood or luan.

top half: take your pick --- could be RKT or cake or if don't need that much edible the whole head could be a styrofoam ball

-------

ears: gumpaste or fondant

-----

hand: gumpaste or fondant or RKT

-----

foot: could be pieces of cake stacked cut and carved or RKT or styrofoam

----

leg: dowel or log of fondant or RKT

----

cover all in fondant and detail.

I just made one last weekend, and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My big difficulty was covering the sphere Mickey head in fondant. Boy, was that hard!! But luckily the imperfections were at the bottom, and I got them somewhat smoothed out with shortening. He red "body" of the clubhouse was cake (as well as the 11x15 underneath)but everything else was styrofoam covered in fondant. The white hand in the back, as well as the collars, was solid fondant. I tried doing a solid fondant slide about 8 days in advance, and it was STILL too weak! So I scrapped it - next time I'll add gumtex so it dries faster.

Good luck kimhamjohn!
