VERY cute idea! Wow, you're planning ahead for December! I admire you! I bet they'll love it.
Here are some ideas I thought of...You could give it a theme, like have them each choose a different animal, or a different cartoon character, or something to focus their designs on. Maybe they could draw pieces of paper assigning them to do a different theme: farm, space, princess, etc.
Have all the icing and cakes ready for them (probably little 6-inch cakes). Since they're so young, I might even ice the cakes for them, and then let them embellish with sprinkles, pre-made flowers, icing, etc. You might even want to buy the tube icing and edible markers, because they are SO much less messy, and fun!
The invitations could be shaped like a cake or cupcake, or even attached TO a cupcake.
I hope you have fun! Let us know how it goes!

p.s. for a game, you could do "pin the candle on the cake" or something like that!

Wilton has a kid's cake decorating program. You might find some ideas and stuff to print.

Yes I went to wiltons web site, they have a lot of thing I will incorperate in the party.

I want to use the madhatter cupcake, or mini cake, pans. Should I let the kids mix and bake the cake. Or is that too much, I going to get the tube icing and sprinkles. My husband thinks i should let them bake, but their 7! Like he knows anyway lol.
I was think of getting cake boxes and let the kids color them to take their own cake home. And they could eat "the birthday cake" at the party

so what do you guys think

I think you should have the cakes baked and ready to go for them. It would take far to long to bake, cool, and decorate the cakes. Maybe you could try teaching them some of the different techniques, and maybe let them play on the Wilton practice boards before they decorate their own cakes. Sounds like a great party idea though. They are going to have a blast icon_biggrin.gif

I agree with Beebug123 have them ready so when they get there they can get started. That is a good idea.. If you have a scanner and printer you can print your own invitations. You could do a cake with your little girls picture on it.. Add the Happy Birthday on top and her name at the bottom. ON the inside you can find a picture of a icing tube and put it at the begining of Your Invited etc.. I think it would be cheaper to make the aprons yourself.. By the material by the yard if you don't like to sew you can use liquid stitch for the hem.. And just hand stitch the part around the neck.. I think that would be sooooooooooooo cute. You can then get iron on paper that you can print on and add their names on it and iron it on.. TaDa their own apron with their own names. OMG icon_eek.gif I can go on and on.. I think the 7" round pan would be perfect to decorate and take home. And they will want to go wild with imaginations, maybe do a theme on the cake.. Show them one and let them replicate it.. Something like the ice cream cake..(they will have their cake and ice cream) thumbs_up.gif All they would have to do is add border, half cones around it, and add the icing on top of cones and add the sprinkles, sugar ect... . They can add their own name on top. Just a thought.. Go for something easy! Just think when they get home they will have so much to talk about.. " We got our own aprons, our own cake, our own icing tubes and got to take our cake home! Boy we had so much fun her mommy is the coolest!". LOL

I really like the apron idea, very cute!!

Depending on how long you are planning this party for. Maybe you could have fabric markers ready when they first get there and they can decorate their aprons first. Decorate their boxes. Then have them decorate the cake!

This is a great idea, so much fun! I can't wait to hear all about it and what you decide to do.

Don't forget to take pictures and let us see what you inspired the young ladies to create!

At one of my daughters birthday parties...the kids decorated a cookie. I had spinkles, icing, edible glitter...etc. I think letting them decorate cupcakes or mini cakes would be a good idea. Before they do that you could have them decorated an apron or white t-shirt and let them wear it while they decorate. Another idea would be to bake the birthday cake and frost it white. Then you could let each child take a turn to put the colors, sprinkles or whatever you buy. Then take a picture so your daughter can remember that all her friends decorated her cake. Hope that helps you. You are smart for planning ahead...I am really bad about waiting until the last minute! icon_smile.gif

oh oh.. what about chef hats! I am sure the girls would like that! I wasn't able to find any child size ones but the following website has 9" and 10" hats, 12 for about $12.00.

Just another idea!
I am getting excited for you just thinking of all the possibilities.

I don't know if this has been mentioned (I read fast icon_wink.gif ) but I just saw a Kid's no bake cake kit from Wilton's. It contains a fun shaped pan (small - 1 serving). You mix the cake with water, put it in the pan and somehow it bakes - no oven. Then you decorate!

http://www.candylandcrafts.com/nobakecake.htm

They cost about $5-$6 each...

(I thought of you when I saw it!)

I love the apron idea...but when I first started reading I thought what would be a good party invitation would be to go to the dollar store or someplace cheap and buy really cheap spatulas one for each kid (or a wooden spoon). Then you can make the Invitations for the party and on the inside with all the details you could have the recipe for frosting. Tie it with ribbon to the spatula or spoon. I don't know just an idea!

I like the wooden spoon idea, It would be cute if I could make an invitation that looked like a recipe.

Bithday Party
7 candles
1 bithday girl

And so on, anyone have an idea on how I could write this.

pooker-That is an awesome find! no baking. lot of kids but I think the cost might be worth it. I think I am going to blow my buget on this one anyway.
Thanks for the ideas guys!

I would use either recipe cards or card stock. On one side either get some stickers that have cakes candles ballons (birthday ideas) or stamps and put that on their. Then I would write on it Recipe For a Birthday Party! On the other side I would re-write that as the title and then put ingredients: 1- birthday girl, 7- candles, many great friends (or to personalize it even more put 1- and the childs name), Lot's of fun, either 1-birthday cake or the number of cakes you are going to make, and then put Instructions: Mix all together for one great birthday party and
Bake at (put the time of the party) to (time party ends) like bake at 3:00 for 3 hours or 3:00 - 6:00.
HOPE THIS HELPS! Sounds like so much fun!

This sounds quite bizarre to me. A cake that you don't need to bake? I'm really curious as to how this works and tastes?! Has anyone tried it??

I know it does sound a little weired, I am going to try and email them to see how it works. If it looks like cake and taste like cake It will save some time, expecialy on cupcakes and little projects.

I did a cooking party for my daughter last year and we made the invitations on a recipe card. Titled Recipe For Emma's 4th Bday
1 cup Friendship, I cup Fun, I cup Laughter ect..... mix together for an awesome birthday blah blah blah icon_smile.gif
I made chef hats out of posterboard and tissue paper, they decorated aprons. I set up a cupcake decorating station with pre-iced cc, tubes of icing with different tips, sprinkles and candies.
For goodie bags we filled measuring cups with candy, wrapped in bags with a cookie cutter tied around the bag. It was fun! It's nice to plan ahead! Good luck! icon_biggrin.gif

I was just searching the internet for ideas for my son's birthday party and came across a website... www.kidsfoods.com They have children's aprons and chef's hats and a little oven mitt filled with cookie cutters, etc. I remembered reading about your daughter's party so I thought I'd let you know about it. They were fairly inexpensive.
