For all you Canadian CC members, what suppliers do you use?

I'm really just a hobbiest right now but hoping to get some business soon. Most of the stuff I purchase is from Bulk Barn or Michaels. I also use Creative Cutters(.com). They've got more of the advanced decorating gadgets and fun stuff. Check out their website. I've never ordered online as a live quite close.

I have a Michaels in my town, but I am looking for something I can buy stuff like cake boxes in bulk. We have only one tiny aisle in Michaels dedicated to cake stuff (and of course its all Wilton-not that I have anything against Wilton but I want more choices!)

I buy my cake boxes in bulk at Merchante's paper...And another whole seller here in Windsor....Where are you?

Haven't found anywhere in Canada to buy the cake drums though...that is what I would like...I did find them in the states...but not here yet.

I buy my boxes and boards (including drumboards) at Snelling Paper here in Ottawa, some of my bulk food supplies at Tannis Restaurant Supplies, and the rest at Bulk Barn. I am sure that if you look in your area for restaurant supply stores, you can find good prices there.

As for cake supplies, there is Creative Cutters, Global Sugar Art, and Petra International (for my gumpaste flowers - located in Montreal)...all of these I deal with on-line.

I buy my cake boxes from a local supplier, so it's not much help for you... But other stuff I buy almost everything online at goldaskitchen.com, here from CC, and lots of times I buy on Ebay. You find great stuff, from canadian ebay stores, if you want me to share some of my favorite sellers with you, just pm me!

I found a few sites that are in Canada:

http://www.mccalls-cakes.com

www.caketop.ca

http://www.galeswholesale.com

http://www.goldaskitchen.com

http://www.lmbakersupply.com/

http://www.vincentvarietes.com/anglais/home.html

http://www.vixit.com/

I have no idea what any of the companies are like, because I have never bought from any of them. You may have to have a PST number or whatever is required to buy wholesale as some of them are wholesale only. I agree that it's hard to find places to buy in Canada. In my area (near Vancouver) we have Michaels, and Scoop and Save in Langley, and that's it. At least that's all I have found yet.

Nicholson Equipment in Edmonton.

They have everything. And free shipping if you spend over $150 (which is easy to do LOL)....

You do have to have a business license though...

Pm me what your looking for, and I can tell you where I get my things. icon_smile.gif

My favorite seller on Ebay that sells from Canada is bluelakefox cake decorating tools this seller offers a lot of stuff to work with fondant, gumpaste and so on. Also a variety of cake decorating magazines. Sellers from the US that ships to Canada that I like best are: auntiesplace varietyinstock and Rezzycakes and treats they sell lots of good stuff, and Rezzycakes is a member here on CC too.
here are the links for those sellers:

Sugarbean - great! My Dad lives in Edmonton, I am LMAO just picturing him walking through aisles of cake supplies!

Anyone from Winnipeg? That's the largest centre that I'm near...I guess Regina would work too!

I am starting to think that all my supplies are going to have to come from online!! I love shopping (in stores) so that kinda sucks!

It really does. I am desperately seeking cake boxes with windows, and box inserts for cupcakes like this:
http://www.brpboxshop.com./bakery_boxes/1498.html

On a $135 order, BRP quoted me nearly $30 shipping and estimated $48 customs icon_surprised.gif . I really HAVE to find a Canadian supplier.

If you do order online, check what the shipping and customs will be first or you may have a nasty shock when the UPS person turns up at your door.

Is it bad that it popped into my head though? icon_confused.gif What a cake lovin Canadian girl wouldn't do for those perfect cake supplies!!! icon_biggrin.gif BTW - those are cute cake boxes/cupcake holders.
